CLEVELAND — A popular beer joint in Cleveland is closing its doors to keep its employees safe because some customers refuse to follow rules on mask-wearing and social distancing.Forest City Brewery made the announcement on Facebook Tuesday morning."It pains us to inform you that we will be closed to the public as of 7/22/20. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) - Coronado city leaders will begin cracking down on the dockless bicycle trend rolling around San Diego, imposing fines and impounding bikes left on the island.City leaders have moved to declare the transportation alternative a public nuisance and will start impounding bikes left in the city. Coronado has banned bike-sharing companies from setting up shop on the island, but riders are allowed to pick them up and ride them into the city.Therein lies Coronado's problem. Much like the trend around San Diego, Coronado residents have grown concerned with bikes being left on sidewalks and in the right-of-way.Ken Hewitt is one of several local bike shop owners who fought to keep the bikes off the island. "Every bike you see going by there is a potential rental," he said. "We're a small island here.  San Diego's got a lot more real estate and a lot more spaces."So, now the city plans to tag any bikes left in the public-right-of-way, remove them, and charge the companies - to pick them up. The bikes are GPS-enabled, so the city and residents say the companies should know exactly where to find them. 1174

CORONADO (KGTV): Five trees at Coronado's Spreckels Park may need to be cut down before they fall down.The trees, all of them Sugar Gum Eucalyptus, are either at "High" or "Moderate" risk of failure, according to an arborist's report presented to the City Council last week.One tree, the one deemed the highest risk, is already scheduled for demolition. That will happen Tuesday, starting at 6 am. That tree is in the Northeast corner of the park.The other four will be monitored, including two trees with branches that hang over the children's playground.The city hired West Coast Arborist to study all 95 trees in the park after a pine tree collapsed in September.City Code gives the Department of Public Services the authority to decide which trees should or should not be cut down. According to the rules, trees will be removed if they present, "a condition that is hazardous, are in declining or poor health and the condition cannot be corrected by pruning or any other means."Since 2010, the city has removed nine trees from the park. Five other trees have either fallen or had branches fall off. 1115

Community Health Centers that serve hundreds of thousands of San Diegans are now dealing with millions of dollars in federal cuts.So far, they've instituted a hiring freeze and put expansion plans on hold. But if Congress doesn't act soon, those cuts could force the centers to reduce hours starting in January. "We pray that it won't," said Giselle Brown, who goes to the La Maestra Community Health Center in City Heights for basic medical care. "People would be left out, they wouldn't be getting the proper help or care that they need."La Maestra is part of the Health Center Partners of Southern California network, consisting of 17 low-cost clinics in San Diego, Imperial and Riverside Counties.The Federal Government subsidizes centers like it around the country with about billion a year. But about 70 percent of that is expiring, and the first funds disappeared Sept. 30. Congress has not renewed it.However, the House is scheduled to vote Friday on a bipartisan bill that would extend the funds for two years. Vernita Todd, a V.P. for the health center system of Southern California, says she's concerned the bill may not get out of the Senate - and the January deadline of reducing services is only getting closer. Brown says she hopes the funding is restored, not just for her, but for her community.    1376

(KGTV and WPBF) - The Parkland community gathered for a vigil Thursday to remember the 17 victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.The vigil took place at Parkridge Baptist Church in Coral Springs, about a mile from the school.Florida Governor Rick Scott and other elected officials joined the group.The church has a direct tie to the high school.
