A doctored animation of Parkland shooting survivor Emma Gonzalez ripping the US Constitution in two went viral on social media after Gab, a so-called "free speech social network" that features the controversial Pepe the Frog as its account image, posted it on Twitter.The tweet gathered 1,500 retweets and 2,900 likes and only after a few hours did Gab specify the fake animation was "obviously a parody/satire."The original animation is from a Teen Vogue story released March 23 featuring Gonzalez and other teen activists, as Allure & Teen Vogue communications director Jaime Ellyn Marsanico confirmed to CNN. A lawyer says a woman who drove into a crowd at a Southern California rally against racism had been surrounded by hostile counter-demonstrators and feared for her life.Tatiana Turner faces a court appearance Tuesday in Orange County. She's being held on million bail on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.A man and woman were seriously injured during the Saturday confrontation in Yorba Linda.Attorney Ludlow Creary said Monday that Turner was in fear for her life and never intended to harm anyone.A spokeswoman for the Orange County sheriff says they will look into the claim that Turner sought help before driving into the crowd. 671

A Dundalk couple says they’re trying to figure out who’s responsible after a carnival accident on Friday.A day at a carnival for David Nagel, his wife Stacy, and their 2-year-old grandson was going great until David and Levi were on board the carnival’s merry-go-round.“I grabbed my grandson,” David said. “Ran away from the [the carousel] and got my grandson over the fence to my wife, and then I went back to make sure that everybody else was ok because there was a young lady with two younger kids behind me.”Part of the merry-go-round collapsed with close to 40 people on or nearby.Stacy watched in horror, capturing the entire incident on her smartphone.“It was his first time ever on a merry-go-round. He’s two. He never wanted to get on before and we didn’t push him. He just wanted to get on the merry-go-round so we had to film it. Thank gosh we did,” she said.Firefighters along with ride inspectors worked on the ride for almost an hour.Then the ride went back into service – not against protocol according to state inspectors.The ride services’ owner, Shaw & Sons Amusements, says the state handles inspections.“A major breakdown is a stoppage of operation from any cause that results in damage, failure, or breakage of a structural or stress bearing part of an amusement attraction,” Matt Helminiak, the Commissioner of Labor and Industry – over the amusement ride and safety inspection division, said.By phone, he said if no one was injured or if there weren’t a major breakdown, the state wouldn’t even be alerted.The incident on Friday wasn’t enough to shut the ride down.Still, Helminiak says the state will look at what went wrong with the merry-go-round.“In the case of a mobile ride, every time that ride is set up, a state inspector inspects it before anybody is allowed to ride it, but the operators themselves have a daily inspection requirement and so they inspect it and keep a log of inspections and then have that available for us,” he said.An unsettling feeling for David, who says he wants to see a change in the inspection process, no matter if someone is injured.“I went, number one, to bring back memories and number two – to share joy. It was supposed to be a joyous time. A California couple faces allegations of labor human trafficking and wage theft after an employee was reportedly found living at one of their liquor stores in “unhealthy conditions” and being forced to work without getting paid.The couple, Balwinder Singh Mann and Amarjit Mann, were arrested after an investigation by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) uncovered violations involving four employees.The investigation found the couple “harbored at least one of the victims in the back of the store where the individual slept on a mattress,” according to the release from investigators.The Mann’s own two liquor stores in Gilroy, a town about 30 miles south of San Jose.The couple made the employee work 15-hour shifts, seven days a week, and was never paid, according to the Santa Clara District Attorney. Investigators say the employee slept in a storage room and bathed in a mop bucket.The employee was identified after an ABC inspection in February. According to the Santa Clara District Attorney, the agent contacted the employee, and noted a mattress lying over milk crates in a back room, with an office desk filled with clothes and cooking pans.Investigators say labor human trafficking is a “modern-day form of slavery” where the victim is forced, coerced or tricked into involuntary labor.The District Attorney says the investigation concluded the employee had flown from India in 2019, expecting to travel to the U.S. with the Mann’s. Instead, the couple allegedly took his money and passport, and put him to work in their liquor store without the ability to leave.Three other employees told investigators they worked long hours and were paid nearly nothing. The DA says at least one of the employees had no idea about the concept of a minimum wage. The investigation estimates the Mann’s stole more than 0,000 in wages from the four victims. 1890
