SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The City of San Diego is trying to stop people from driving onto the Ocean Beach Pier, recently installing plastic pylons. The city recently installed the pylons at the foot of the pier after a car sped onto the structure, hitting two people and a police cruiser in June. The pylons are the first step, but the city says it’s still considering additional options to discourage people from driving onto the pier. On Thursday, 10News tagged along for an inspection at Robin and Mike Judd's home in Santee. "It's a concern, in today's world, security, how safe are you? And you can never be too safe," Robin said. Crime prevention specialists Mike Mateo and Monica Cordero spent about an hour inside the home, pointing out potential flaws concerning locks, lighting, and outdoor decorations that could be used to break windows.The duo also gave information on crime prevention and neighborhood watch programs to use as preventative measures to local crime.To arrange for an in-home inspection, San Diegans can call their local sheriff's substation and ask for crime prevention.You can find a list of the contacts here. 846

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The cost of living in San Diego has become more burdensome over the last year, according to a new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The bureau says that while prices fell 0.3 percent between May and July of this year, prices for consumer goods have risen 1.4 percent over the last 12 months. The cost of housing is up more than three percent since this time last year while food prices rose by a little more than one percent. Nationally, prices for consumer goods are up nearly 2 percent year-over-year. Also year-over-year, the price for fuel and utilities has risen by more than 6 percent, according to the bureau. 656

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Medical Board of California has filed an accusation and petition to revoke the probation of a Del Mar doctor who is accused of prowling in a former girlfriend’s backyard.10News first broke the story about Dr. Jeffrey Lovin in May after we were given home security video showing a man lurking behind a home. An ex-girlfriend said the man in the video was Dr. Lovin, a radiologist. Lovin was charged with prowling, peeking and violating a restraining order. He pleaded not guilty.At the time, Lovin was already on probation with the Medical Board for other criminal activity. This month, the Board issued an accusation and petition to revoke his probation.
