"Cody Hidalgo, as a short-term employee of Roman Stoneworks, has engaged in a social media campaign with false claims that are verifiably untrue. This individual was not terminated because of a meme posted on Facebook on Sunday, October 20. After the posting of that meme, he worked the following Monday, Tuesday and part of Wednesday. Mr. Hidalgo actually walked off the job on Wednesday, October 23 of his own volition, and over his manager's objection. Roman Stoneworks and its officers desired to keep Mr. Hidalgo in its employment to perform his duties. He abandoned a job in progress and that was how his employment with Roman Stoneworks actually came to an end.Unfortunately this individual, who was employed for less than 2 months, is now seeking to exploit the publicity that this false claim has created. He has started a Gofundme page to attempt to capitalize on his newfound exposure. Meanwhile, Roman Stoneworks and its owner and personnel have been subjected to significant monetary damage, as well as threats, profanity and harassment by phone and email. Due to the backlash from these false claims, my client's webpage has had to be removed, and the individuals involved have been inundated with calls and emails.If Mr. Hidalgo chose to tell the truth to all of the people who have now heard his false claims, then the matter may be able to be resolved amicably. (CNN) - Eager to catch an elusive killer, authorities released a composite sketch Thursday of a suspect in the drive-by shooting of a 7-year-old girl.Jazmine Barnes was killed while riding in a car with her family Sunday morning. Since then, the Texas girl's senseless death has garnered nationwide attention.Tips have poured in to investigators in the Houston area, but the gunman is still on the loose.The sketch was compiled from descriptions given by Jazmine's mother and three sisters, who were also in the car. Authorities said a man in a red or maroon pickup drove up next to them around 7 a.m. and opened fire for no apparent reason.The Harris County Sheriff's Office also released an enhanced surveillance video of the suspect's pickup."We're not going to rest until we find justice for Jazmine," Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told reporters.The sketch shows a white man in his 40s with a 5 o'clock shadow. He was driving a red, extended-cab pickup.'My baby is not responding at all'In an interview with CNN, Jazmine's sister, Alexis Dilbert, and mother, LaPorsha Washington, recalled the truck pulled up to their passenger side before going around to Washington's driver's side as the family made an early morning coffee run."I didn't even hear the first gunshot. All I remember is my glass shattering on my window, and then I heard the shots go off," said Washington, 30."I think I'm hit in my arm," Washington recalled saying to her daughters. She was later hospitalized for her injury.Washington said she realized Jazmine had been shot after Alexis, who is 15, called Jazmine's name and she didn't answer."When she said Jazmine the third time, I turned the light on in the car and turned around and looked at my baby," Washington said. She laughed recalling the memories of her daughter.She said Jazmine was her "love child," who would hug and kiss everyone, even strangers. She liked the color purple and dressing up in her mother's clothes.Her favorite song was "Wake up in the Sky" by Bruno Mars, Gucci Mane and Kodak Black, Washington said.In the car, she usually sang louder than the radio, her mother said."I swear, they keep me on my toes 24/7. They're so amazing," Washington said of her children. SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - A San Marcos family is dealing with an unbearable loss. The Houghton family was involved in a horrific crash that killed their 13-year-old son, Bryce, Saturday night on the 405 in Orange County. The family of five was headed to San Luis Obispo to visit relatives, according to Michael Houghton. Their 17-year-old daughter was driving, when their van began to slow down. Michael says it seemed like it was running out of gas. It stopped in the HOV lane. Michael, his wife, and three kids decided to stay in the van buckled up and call for help. While they waited for 911 and a tow truck, CHP says a pickup truck slammed into the van. Another vehicle hit the pickup truck after the initial crash. The CHP arrested the driver of the pickup truck on suspicion of DUI. Officers said the driver of the pickup had major injuries. Four people in the third vehicle received minor injuries. Michael described his youngest son as a jovial person who loved to make people smile. “Short in stature but big in personality,” Michael said. “One of the things he loved the most was to make people happy.” The Houghton’s other two children, 15-year-old Mason, and 17-year-old Carissa, received minor injuries, though Mason will be on crutches, according to his dad. Michael’s wife, Gael, needed surgery. Michael received injuries to the back of his head, and injuries to his eye that had previously undergone a procedure. The family was very involved with Anthem Church in Vista, as well as Bread of Life Rescue Mission in Oceanside. The Houghtons had organized an event for the homeless on the Saturday before the crash. "We were investigating drug sales on the street," said Retired Detroit Deputy Police Chief James Younger whose partner was shot in 1972 by a man who was never arrested for the crime. The shooting left Detroit Police Officer Donald Kimbrough paralyzed from the waist down and he died December 7, 2017, from medical complications that resulted from the decades old shooting. "With the knowledge that he was shot and never fully recovered, the manner is homicide," said Dr. Bernardino Pacris from the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Officer who conducted an autopsy on Kimbrough and recovered an oxidized, deformed bullet from Kimbrough's back. Younger said doctors could not remove the bullet without killing Kimbrough because of where it was located. Sergeant Todd Eby of Detroit's Homicide Task Force has been assigned to solving Officer Kimbrough's murder. It happened August 25, 1972, in an alley near a methadone clinic that was located at John R and Belmont.Kimbrough, Younger and another officer, Donald Hughes, were investigating drug activity in the area when they heard gunshots. Kimbrough and Hughes took off running to the area where witnesses said men were shooting while Younger began to navigate their vehicle around traffic to get to the location. Kimbrough and Hughes spotted one man holding a long gun and ordered him to place the weapon on the ground. Moments later, another man who was sitting in the driver's seat of a green Lincoln Continental that was parked nearby, rolled his window down and opened fire on Kimbrough and Hughes. The two officers returned fire, but Kimbrough had been shot. The man who had the long gun picked it back up off the ground and raced to hop into the green Lincoln Continental. Both men escaped.The vehicle they fled in is described as a green 1968 Lincoln Continental with a black vinyl top. It's unclear if the car was a two-door or four-door. A partial license plate may be GA- 2--.The shooter was described as a white man 25 - 30-years-old with shoulder-length black hair, a thick black mustache and long bushy sideburns. Police did recover the shooter's .32 caliber Colt semi-automatic pocket pistol. A man found it in his yard.  "Don was a good policeman. A good person and very energetic person. We spent a lot of time together not only on duty, but also off duty," said Younger who retired as a Detroit Police Chief and now teaches Criminal Justice at Wayne County Community College. If he's alive, Kimbrough's shooter could be in his seventies. But Younger, Eby, and family and friends of Donald Kimbrough believe it's not too late for someone to help solve the case by identifying a suspect. "Where's man's humanity towards man," said Younger. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was injured at a Valencia Park home after a small explosion that police say could be drug-related. San Diego Police responded to a home on the 700 block of Valencia Parkway and transported a 38-year-old man to the hospital. According to police, it appeared he was holding an object that exploded, causing shrapnel-type injuries to his face, chest, and arm. San Diego Fire-Rescue's Hazardous Materials team and a bomb squad were called to the scene. An investigation is ongoing as to what caused the explosion. Police said there was some evidence of materials that might be related to the manufacturing of narcotics found in the home, but could not confirm that was the cause of the blast. Police say it happened in the backyard area of the home. The man was alone at the time, though two children live in the house. Police did not clarify the man's relationship with the kids. The man has not been identified. He's expected to survive. No arrests were made. 994
