SAN DIEGO -- As part of an initiative aimed at expanding San Diego's regional bike network, SANDAG has released a map of bikeways throughout the county. The plan, known as GO by BIKE, proposes a bike system of interconnected corridors, support facilities and programs that make biking a convenient form of travel.According to Keep San Diego Moving, making the region more bike-friendly resolves issues like traffic congestion, air quality and livability.The plan proposes a network of bike corridors that will allow residents to bike on more direct routes within and between major destinations and activity centers.The plan also supports the implementation of SANDAG’s regional comprehensive plan and SANDAG’s 2050 regional transportation plan.To promote the infrastructure, SANDAG is putting on Bike to Work Day, which will take place on Thursday, May 17.The plan also has a 0 million early action program. The "credible fear" claims accounted for 18 percent of all people arrested or stopped at the Mexican border in the latest period, up from 13 percent a year earlier.CBP publicly released the numbers for the first time as more migrants, many of them families and children from Mexico and Central America, seek asylum or other forms of humanitarian protection to gain entry to the U.S. The trend was highlighted by a caravan of more than 6,000 migrants, largely from Honduras, that arrived in Tijuana, Mexico, last month, many hoping to seek asylum across the border in San Diego.Commissioner Kevin McAleenan noted that most asylum claims are ultimately unsuccessful in immigration court and he renewed the Trump administration's call for Congress to address "these vulnerabilities in our immigration system." SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A distraught man driving a van stolen in Sorrento Valley led San Diego police and the California Highway Patrol on a lengthy chase Thursday that ended in Riverside County, authorities said.San Diego Police Department Officer Scott Lockwood said the white van was stolen from the 9400 block of Scranton Road about 10:45 a.m.SDPD officers pursued the stolen vehicle through Mira Mesa, and the CHP took over the chase when the driver got onto northbound Interstate 15.
