He said the French side was ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side and work with all other parties to push for positive results at the summit.Hu said Europe is the largest economy in the world, and there will be no global economic recovery without a recovery of the European economy.He pointed out that the package deal that the European Union (EU) struck lately demonstrates its will and determination to resolve Europe's debt problem. He hoped that the implementation of the package deal would help overcome the difficulties facing Europe and be conducive to the recovery and growth of the European economy."It is mainly up to Europe to resolve the European debt problem," Hu said."We believe that Europe has all the wisdom and capability to resolve the debt problem," he added.Sarkozy said Europe is committed to resolving the debt crisis by making its own effort and strengthening cooperation with the international community. BEIJING, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- China's first space lab module were in good condition and all tests went on "smoothly" during the past week, according to a statement issued by the country's space project authorities Thursday.The unmanned module, Tiangong-1, or Heavenly Palace-1, blasted off on Sept. 29 from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's desert area.Tiangong-1 switched to the orbit of 362 kilometers high and had orbited the Earth for 109 times by 6:00 p.m. Thursday, the statement said.Tests on the module's remote control system, video/audio equipments, temperature/humidity sensors, docking facilities and other functions had been conducted successfully, it added.It also revealed that the Jiuquan Launch Center and other units were preparing for the launch of the Shenzhou-8 unmanned spacecraft, which is scheduled to join the Tiangong-1 later this year.Shenzhou-8 and Tiangong-1 are expected to perform China's first space docking at a height of 340 kilometers above the earth's surface.

That is why the Ministry of Health is working with the Ministry of Education in promoting more physical education in schools and making it compulsory from this school term.Fiji was recently ranked the fourth-most obese nation in the region, according to the Health Ministry.Recent studies in Fiji showed a high incidence of anaemia in children, women and men.Figures released by the ministry said more than 60 percent of the island nation's population is overweight while a significant number are deficient in iron and micronutrients.The figures show that the high rate of premature disability with Non Communicable Diseases (NCD), infection and cancer has taken its toll on the population."The importance of our traditional diets, healthy eating and physical activities is paramount," a ministry statement had said."In the Pacific NCDs have reached epidemic proportions," it said."Nutritional imbalances resulting from not eating local produce instead of canned, processed food contribute to the equation, especially in these times of global economic crisis."Women's Minister Dr. Jiko Luveni has advised mothers in the country this week to stock up on healthy foods for their families.She said having green leafy vegetables was vital and buying fruits for children's snacks instead of salted prepacked ones was the way to keep the family healthy.The National Food and Nutrition Council said Friday that as the school year draws parents should find healthy alternatives for their children.They have urged teachers and parents to include fruits in every child's meal to reduce NCDs.In other countries in the region Tokelau and Nauru's obesity rates stand at 93 percent to 93.5 percent of the population.In American Samoa and Kiribati obesity stands at 81.5 percent of the population, while Marshall Islands at 80.1 percent, Federated States of Micronesia (Pohnpei) at 73.1 percent.

KATHMANDU, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- "One of the major problems of death due to breast cancer in Nepal is poverty and untimely diagnosis," said Dr. Abish Adhikari Oncologist at the Bir Hospital in Nepali capital Kathmandu in an exclusive interview with Xinhua on Sunday.Adhikari said that the other reason why breast cancer leads to death of women is "women are not decision makers in their houses"."Many people who come here do not want to treat their wives or daughters because of the expenses as they are poor and it is really expensive here to treat cancer," Adhikari said.According to the Nepal Cancer Relief Society, of all cancer cases among the Nepali women and teenage girls as well, 60 percent is of breast cancer.Unverified rough data of the breast cancer patients in Nepal are above 50,000.Adhikari added that women are shy to talk about the problems of breast. They do not go to hospitals for the check up until they are bedridden and at the time they reach hospital they are mostly in the advanced stage.The major causes behind the breast cancer in Nepal are heredity, late pregnancy, consumption of alcohol and smoking. However, unawareness about it remains another major problem that leadind to death of many women in Nepal.Moreover, the rural women in Nepal are unaware about breast cancer, and if they are having some problem, they tend to hide it.Talking to Xinhua, Sajani Manandhar, General Secretary of Richa Bajimaya Memorial Foundation, a cancer awareness raising group said that the major cause of the preventable cancer in Nepal is unawareness.Also a nurse by profession, she said that no one bothers about mammography or regular checkup but are diagnosed at the very late stage.There are less than five hospitals that provide mammography service in the country.Roshani Chitrakar, 48 who is in advanced stage of cancer said that she did not told anyone while she found something unusual in her breast because it was not painful."I took it normally, but when I thought it might be a cancer and told my family and I was already in the advanced stage," she said.Her daughter, Roji Manandhar, said that the doctor has already told that she will not be living long. She is having difficulty even to eat currently.Another cancer patient, 67 years old farmer, Nakkali Nahakhusi said that she told her husband when she found her breast unusual. Her husband, former armyman, immediately took her to the hospital when she told about the problem.Now, she is already cured, and said with smilingly that the god of death did not want to take me away.She said that awareness should be raised because cancer is curable at the early stage.

BEIJING, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese scientists are developing new methods like spraying or dropping hepatitis vaccines into people's noses to replace traditional injections, according to a leading expert on immunology.Such researches were sponsored by a key national science project, according to Wen Yumei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, also the chairwoman of the 14th International Symposium on Viral Hepatitis and Liver Disease, which is scheduled to be held in Shanghai next July.At a press conference held here Friday for the symposium, experts believed that broad-coverage inoculations is an effective way in facilitating the country's goal in controlling Hepatitis B.China's Ministry of Health has also credited its national immunization program for having protected about 80 million people from being infected with the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) in the 19 years after 1992.Recent report showed that about 93 million Chinese are HBV carriers, accounting for more than a quarter of the world's total.
