WASHINGTON, D.C. – Video games are not just for the young anymore – they’re for the young at heart. People over the age of 50 are one of the fastest growing group of video game players in the country and that is translating into big bucks. It’s a trend that can be seen at the Hayes Senior Wellness Center in Washington, D.C. That is where afternoons are a time to get up and strike in video game bowling. “It’s fun,” said 62-year-old Karen Glymph. “It brings you up, makes you laugh.” Glymph plays to win, even though video games are not what this generation grew up with. “We didn’t have this then,” she said. “Most everybody wanted to go outside. Now, they want to stay and play video games.” That is especially true for seniors, according to a new study by the AARP. “Gaming and technology – that's where we see a bigger shift,” said Alison Bryant, AARP senior vice president of research. How big is the shift? In 2016, about 40 million people over the age of 50 played video games monthly. By 2019, that number soared to more than 50 million. That means 44% of all seniors are now regularly playing video games. All of this is turning into big business, because the amount of money seniors spent on video games last year alone totaled billion. “I hope that the gaming industry is going to start taking a look at these numbers and saying, ‘wait a minute. There's really an opportunity here to increase our market share’ and to develop games that might be even more exciting for older adults,” Bryant said. (CNN) -- An Oregon woman is under arrest after police say she shared bean dip with an extra ingredient: methamphetamine.Cassandra Medina-Hernandez gave some of the meth-laced dip to a fellow employee in the deli of the grocery store where she worked, according to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff's office.The co-worker began feeling ill, went to the hospital, and was told the dip might have been contaminated with meth, deputies said. A former Disney Cruise Line employee is accused of molesting a 10-year-old boy in the children's center on board a cruise ship that sets sail from Port Miami.According to his arrest report, 24-year-old Oliver Lovatt is a youth entertainment host on the Disney Magic.The alleged victim said he was playing inside the Oceaneer Kids Lab on the ship on April 28 around 10:30 p.m.During a game that involved the 10-year-old getting blindfolded and spun around several times, Lovatt "fondled the victim's [private parts] outside of the clothing," the arrest report stated.Later, during another game, authorities said Lovatt was sitting next to the alleged victim and moved his hand toward him."The victim, in fear the defendant would fondle his [private parts] again, proceeded to cover his genital area," according to the arrest report. A man is in custody after he tried to enter St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York on Wednesday night with gallons of gasoline, lighter fluid and lighters, authorities said.When a security officer at the cathedral stopped the 37-year-old man, he left the church and was detained shortly after by counterterrorism officers, NYPD's John Miller said at a news conference.The man, who is from New Jersey and is known to police, spilled some of the gasoline as the security officer stopped him in the church and forced him to turn around, Miller said."It's hard to say exactly what his intentions were but I think the totality of circumstances of an individual walking into an iconic location like St. Patrick's Cathedral, carrying over four gallons of gasoline, two bottles of lighter fluid and lighters is something we would have great concern over," Miller said.Before entering the church, the man retrieved the items from a minivan he had parked near the church, Miller said. The NYPD swept that vehicle and did not find any additional materials.The man initially told officers he was cutting through the cathedral to get to Madison Avenue and that his car had run out of gas, but Miller said when officers checked his car, it had gas.The man has not been identified but when he is charged with a crime, police will release his identity, Miller added.Authorities described him as emotionally disturbed but said it's too early to tell what his motive was or whether it's connected to terrorism.Nobody was injured in the incident and police are investigating.
