EARLESVILLE, Md. — Deputy State Fire Marshals are investigating an incident that left a Maryland student burned on a school bus on Tuesday afternoon.Fire crews and investigators were dispatched to Hack's Point General Store located in Earlesville, Maryland when they found the student with burns on his hands.An investigation showed that while the school bus was on route to drop off students from Bohemia Manor High School, the students on the bus notified the driver that there was a cellphone on the floor smoking.They say the 18-year-old student picked up the cellphone from the ground and he burned his hands while attempting to throw it off the bus.The student was later transported to Union Hospital of Cecil County with non-life threatening injuries.Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the phone explosion. 872

(KGTV) — El Cajon City Council voted Friday not to make any changes in how the city enforces the county's coronavirus public health orders.Thursday, Mayor Bill Wells called for the special meeting to discuss stopping El Cajon Police from enforcing public health measures around facial coverings and distancing.City Council leaders said the city would continue enforcing the rules as they have on a case-by-case basis, according to the mayor. I'm not telling people not to social distance. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - Unforeseen problems at the East County Performing Arts Center will delay a renovation project and plans to turn the venue into a rock concert hall. They will also cost the city about million more to complete the project.The City Council approved the extra cost at their meeting on December 11th.The ECPAC has been closed since 2010, a casualty of the Great Recession.Over the years it fell into disrepair. But in 2017, city leaders put together a plan to reopen it. They signed a contract with concert promoter Live Nation to bring about 70 acts per year to the venue.Part of the deal called for nearly .3 million of renovations to make it more like a concert venue than a performance hall.RELATED: Renovations underway as Live Nation takes over East County Performing Arts CenterAs that work went on, other problems surfaced. Engineers found the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system needed to be replaced.
