SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — From California to Maine, breweries across the country are stepping up to help California fire victims.The effort started with the Sierra Nevada brewery. While their facility was spared by the Camp Fire, communities around it were devastated.Sierra Nevada founder Ken Grossman reached out to fellow brewers to join him in the disaster relief effort, making their ‘Resilience Butte County Proud IPA’ recipe available to those who want to help. The brewery is asking that 100 percent of profits go to fire relief efforts. So far over 1,200 breweries have pledged to make and sell the beer.“I’ve never seen anything on this scale,” said Jim Millea, brewmaster at OB Brewery. “That’s a lot of beer being made for a good cause, it’s pretty sweet!”Millea says he didn’t hesitate to join the effort.“Who wouldn’t want to be a part of a good cause?” said Millea. He’s one of many in the San Diego region who will be brewing Resilience IPA. Millea hopes to have his on tap at the OB Brewery in a few weeks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Houston’s former mayor Annise Parker met Monday with San Diego County mayors and leaders to discuss solutions for the homeless crisis.Parker said Houston decreased its homeless population by 60 percent in three years. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Five baby foxes were rescued from a South Bay construction site after a worker spotted them below a pile of cement rocks set for destruction.A construction worker at an Otay Mesa work site alerted his manager to the a Grey fox and her five babies this week, before crews were set to break down the pile with a jackhammer, according to San Diego Humane Society.Humane officers responded and removed the large blocks over the den with the help of construction workers. The days-old babies — two males and three females — made it out safely, but their mother fled over the commotion.Officers tried to lure the mom with fox pup sounds and her babies to no avail. Monday morning, SDHS says they were able to trap the mother. The babies and mom were brought to SDHS's Project Wildlife center for care, before being transported to Fund for Animals Wildlife Center in Ramona. 894

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LEGOLAND had to shut its doors back in March. But that doesn't mean kids are losing out on the LEGO fun. LEGO "Master Builder" Jessica Ewud is passing along her creative knowledge through virtual LEGO art classes. "To keep the kids occupied," says Ewud. "While they are stuck inside during this pandemic with nothing to do."Ewud is a professional artist who was looking to transform her art in a creative way. Then one night, she had a dream she created an Abraham Lincoln made out of LEGO. She thought the idea was so brilliant, she went out and got the materials to make it."I'd always thought of Lego as a kids toy, but as an artist, I was looking at it differently. I was looking at it as an art medium," she said.Her art creations got her noticed, and she was chosen to participate in the competition show, LEGO Masters, where she became a show finalist. She also has one of her LEGO artworks on display at LEGOLAND."I got selected out of thousands of people to be on Lego Masters, and my peacock is on display at LEGOLAND," says Ewud.And now she is passing along her knowledge, by offering virtual LEGO art classes."I'm offering some awesome classes online via Outschool," said Ewud. "I try to make my classes as engaging and creative as possible. I feel when kids are stuck inside, the best thing they can do is be creative." 1391
