(KGTV) - A group of Massachusetts police officers and firefighters are being hailed as heroes after coming to the aid of a choking puppy this week.North Reading resident Megan Vitale stormed into a police station Sunday telling officers her 9-week-old Saint Bernard puppy, Bodhi, was choking on food. An acquaintance came running in with Bodhi shortly after, the puppy limp and unresponsive in his arms, surveillance footage from the station showed.A group of officers came running out to begin administering first aid to the puppy. A group of North Reading firefighters also arrived at the station to help with back blows and chest compressions. RELATED: Beloved lizard missing from Spring Valley pet storeAfter 10 minutes, the food blockage was finally dislodged and Bodhi was revived."Ultimately, a life was saved thanks to rescuers falling back on their training and remaining calm. Even though we are not faced with this kind of incident every day, the officers reacted just as they would in any emergency situation," North Reading Police Chief Murphy said. “We are hopeful that the puppy will make a full recovery."Firefighters used a special oxygen tank designed for pets to help Bodhi get breathing again."Many of our firefighters have pets at home in their own families. We do not get to choose the emergency situation that comes our way, so it is important that first responders be prepared for anything," Fire Chief Stats said.Bodhi was able to leave with Vitale to receive follow-up care from a veterinarian, according to the police department. 1599

(KGTV) — Disney officials say the company's California parks are prepared to reopen as soon as the state gives guidance for theme parks to open their doors.During a roundtable discussion with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday, Disney World’s chief operating officer Jim MacPhee said the California theme parks are "ready to roll" once they are given the chance to reopen.“Disneyland has been ready to roll since July awaiting guidance from the state's governor on what the reopening protocols will be,” said MacPhee.RELATED: SeaWorld San Diego prepares to reopen with Zoo Days eventOfficials from Universal Studios who were also at the roundtable echoed the same preparedness."We're awaiting our park in Hollywood, as with Disney and SeaWorld, with respect to the state of California and the governor and when we'll be able to reopen. Disneyland, California Adventure, and Universal Studios have all been shuttered since March due to the pandemic. Disney officials had rolled out a phased reopening plan and safety measures in June with the assumption they would have guidance by July, but delayed the plans when it became clear the state was not issuing guidance anytime soon.MacPhee said one of the challenges is convincing state leadership, and eventually potential guests, that the parks' safety precautions to prevent to spread of COVID-19 will be effective."I think it's driving awareness, driving a strong focus on how safe our environment is, and having people roll in," MacPhee said.SeaWorld officials were also present at the meeting. (KGTV) — A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck the Searles Valley area of San Bernadino County late Sunday.The quake was recorded at about 9:15 p.m. about 14 miles outside of Ridgecrest, Calif., according to the USGS. No injuries or damages were immediately reported.According to the USGS' "Did You Feel It?" map, not San Diego County responses were submitted.Last week, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake was reported in the same region outside Ridgecrest. Aside from last week's tremor, the last major earthquakes to hit near Ridgecrest occurred on July 4 and 5, 2019, when 6.4- and 7.1-magnitude earthquakes jostled the region.Location of Sunday's quake: 653
