CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) - Each Monday, a group of dedicated seniors gather in their woodshop, on a mission to make the holidays a little brighter for North County kids in need. The woodworking elves of the La Costa Glen senior living community in Carlsbad have spent nearly a year creating 100 handmade toys of all shapes and sizes.The toys have up to 39 pieces, crafted with various types of wood like walnut, cherry, and mahogany. Countless hours have gone into the effort. Among the toys are a truck, grasshopper, and mouse. The lone female, Cori Schumacher, is currently running for mayor against incumbent Matt Hall.Meanwhile, Council-members Mark Packard and Michael Schumacher are not seeking reelection.Six candidates have come forward to fill their spots, five of which are women. In District One, Linda Breen, Tracy Carmichael, Barbara Hamilton, and David McGee are running. BUFFALO, N.Y. — When a man's car was damaged in an alleged hit-and-run accident, it was a note from a sixth grader who helped him find who was responsible.According to Andrew Sipowicz, he received an anonymous note on his car from a student at Houghton Academy explaining that she had been aboard a bus that had damaged his car in an accident. (KGTV) — A 52-year-old modeling photographer was arrested this week in Carlsbad, accused of sexually assaulting a teenager.Robert Koester, of Carlton, Ore., was arrested on Tuesday at a Carlsbad Blvd. residence after the reported sexual assault of a 16-year-old during a modeling shoot, according to Carlsbad Police.Police were alerted to the reported sexual assault on Monday after the teenager said she met with Koester, who was subcontracted by Frank, a Carlsbad-based modeling agency. MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodThe victim said during the photo shoot, Koester sexually assaulted her. She left the shoot early and told her father about the incident.Police investigated and found Koester at the residence, which he was temporarily renting. Police said other evidence was collected at the scene.Investigators are working with the modeling agency, Frank, to identify other possible victims.
