LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A police officer recruit in Indiana has been fired after his department received "credible" information the officer participated in a neo-Nazi internet chat forum in 2016.According to a report from Lafayette police, the department was tagged late Friday on its official Twitter page with information specifically identifying the officer.In a statement, Chief Patrick Flannelly said the department's internal affairs division began an immediate investigation and determined that the officer did participate in the online forum and that the information provided to the police department was accurate and credible.We have chosen not to identify the officer at this time, since he has not been charged with a crime.The chief said the officer's comments "were not in harmony with the spirit of cooperation and inclusion in the community that the Lafayette Police Department values."The officer was hired by the department in June 2020 and has been working solely in a training environment and has had no exposure to the public, the chief said."The Lafayette Police Department conducts very thorough and complete background investigations on all potential employees, which includes a complete review of personal social media accounts," Flannelly said. (KGTV) - "Dozens" of cats were found Thursday in an East County apartment in unlivable conditions.San Diego Sheriff's Department (SDSO) responded to a welfare check for elderly neglect just before 2 p.m. in the 9700 block of Channel Road. Deputies arrived and located "dozens of cats" in a 1000-square-foot apartment, according to a release.Deputies said the apartment was not in a liveable condition.Officials at the scene originally told 10News more than 100 cats were found, but later clarified it was difficult to count because the cats kept running away. Officials said that number is closer to 70 cats.An elderly female was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, but she is expected to be fine. No criminal conduct is suspected and no arrests have been made. 803

LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested after deputies say she assaulted the vice principal of her son’s school in Lakeside Tuesday. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department says the incident started when Monique Martin tried to pick up her son from school. When Martin was asked for identification, deputies say she became combative and physically assaulted the vice principal of Lakeside Middle School before returning home. LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A La Mesa woman is recovering after she says she was attacked during the protest on Saturday night. Eleyna Bedolla said she was not protesting and she is not sure if the man that attacked her was a protester. Bedolla told 10News she heard commotion in her neighborhood so she went for a walk to check out what was happening. When she noticed the demonstration, she said she started to make her way back home along Palm Avenue. That's when a man approached her with a baseball bat and asked her, "Who the hell do you think you are?"Bedolla said she told the man she was trying to get home, but she said he grabbed her and threw her into the street, hitting her with a bat in the leg. He also tried to hit her head, but Bedolla said she was able to protect herself with her hand. She suffered a broken hand and large bruising on her legs. According to Bedolla, La Mesa police were nearby and officers were able to arrest the man. She wants others to be careful when deciding to go out and protest. 10News reached out to the La Mesa Police Department to ask about the arrest, but so far have not heard back. 1139
