SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Tuesday were searching for a man suspected of carjacking another man on a Bay Terraces street. The victim was sitting in his 2018 Kia Forte around 9:55 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Manzana Way, near the Hillsborough Recreation Center, when a white van pulled up alongside him, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.A man got out of the van and told him he wanted the car, then the victim -- assuming the man had a weapon -- got out of his car, Buttle said.Another person driving the van sped away, followed by the thief in the victim's Kia, which had California license plate 8BCW102, the officer said. No detailed suspect descriptions were immediately available.Anyone with information regarding the theft or the location of the car was asked to call SDPD's robbery division at 619-531-2299 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 883
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose seven-tenths of a cent today to .567, its highest amount since Aug. 26, 2015.The average price has risen 21 times in the past 26 days, increasing 13.3 cents, including seven-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The average price is 2.1 cents more than one week ago, 15.9 cents higher than one month ago and 54.9 cents greater than one year ago. It has risen 44.5 cents since the start of the year."Underlying gasoline wholesale prices have wavered within a range of about 10 cents for about the past month, allowing pump prices to remain relatively stable for this time of year," said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager."Barring any major incidents affecting supply or oil prices, it seems unlikely right now that price averages will push as high as a gallon this spring." 1014

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego lifeguards reported that although about 155,000 beachgoers hit San Diego beaches Saturday and Sunday, the number of rescues and medical assists made by lifeguards was not excessive going into the third day of the Labor Day weekend.``On Saturday there were about 120,000 people on the beaches, and on Sunday there were about 135,000 people,'' said San Diego Lifeguard Lt. Andy Lerum. ``We did about 2,000 preventative acts each day.'' Lerum said the number of rescues made both days was relatively light.`We made 15 rescues on Saturday, and 42 rescues on Sunday, mostly because the ocean has been pretty calm,'' he said. `We had more medical aids, 40 on Saturday and 35 on Sunday. We're going to probably have more than that for Labor Day, but the final figures are not yet in.''`The bulk of what we've been doing on the beaches has been taking care of sick and injured people,'' said Lerum. ''We also had a flurry of kayak rescues, About five kayaks tipped over into the ocean. We rescued those kayaks. Everybody is fine.''There was lots of boating activity over the holiday weekend.Lerum said a person fell from either Ocean Beach Pier or the seawall there about 5:30 p.m. on Labor Day. The extent of the injuries was not immediately known.``We had a ton of boating incidents on Mission Bay,'' said Lerum.``That's a big part of what we do. It was a spectacular Labor Day weekend. People were enjoying the beautiful weather and warm water.'' 1477
