BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official has urged local governments to make more efforts to transform the economic development pattern and maintain steady economic growth.

Bilateral cooperation have been expanding fast over the past decades, but it was the first social management conference involving many senior officials from China's central government and CPC Central Committee as well as the Singapore government.

Zhang Liqun, a researcher with the Development Research Center under the State Council, said abundant domestic agricultural production has helped stabilize prices. He called for more attention to be paid to severe ongoing droughts in the United States that are expected to impact China's edible oil and grain prices.

"In order to succeed, one should help others to succeed," Chinese Ambassador to Greece Du Qiwen said in his opening speech.

Li also expected that Chan could lead the organization to more efficiently cope with new challenges in the field of world health.
