SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Halloween is quickly approaching, which means thousands of San Diegans will choose that perfect pumpkin to display or carve.Across the county, several pumpkin patches will be open throughout October, waiting to match pumpkins to owners. Several patches offer more than pumpkins as well. Over at Bates Nut Farm, guests can enjoy a petting corral, pony rides, live entertainment, and delicious BBQ and kettle corn this month in Valley Center. Oma's Pumpkin Patch in Lakeside features hay rides, games, and a large play area. And PB Pumpkin Patch is hosting a pumpkin carving area with all the tools needed for jack-o'-lanterns.For those who want a classic patch experience, Lavender Hill Pumpkins in Fallbrook and Farm Stand's Escondido stops offer just that. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Governor Gavin Newsom and the state Attorney General California officials served a cease-and-desist letter to two San Diego strip clubs operating amid the state's stay-at-home order.The letter to the attorneys representing Pacers Showgirls and Cheetahs Gentleman's Club said the state has been informed the locations are operating indoors despite restrictions forcing restaurants to offer only take-out and delivery services under the order.The letter was sent by state Attorney General Xavier Becerra on behalf of Governor Gavin Newsom and the Department of Public Health."We are informed and believe that MIDWAY AND F-12 are continuing to conduct indoor operations notwithstanding the Regional Stay at Home Order currently in effect in the County of San Diego. Such indoor operations violate the terms of the Regional Stay at Home Order, which permits restaurants, such as those run by MIDWAY AND F-12, to operate for take-out and delivery services only," the letter said.RELATED: San Diego County fights ruling protecting strip clubs from stay-at-home ordersThe letter says the two groups representing the strip clubs, Midway Venture LLC and F-12 Entertainment Group Inc., must reply by Saturday at 5 p.m. that they will comply with the order or they could face legal action."To protect the health care delivery system of Southern California from being overwhelmed, the State Health Officer determined that immediate, aggressive nonpharmaceutical interventions must be implemented," the letter states. "Specifically, the Regional Stay at Home Order requires that restaurants, including your clients’ restaurants, may continue to operate for carry-out and delivery services but may not offer indoor or outdoor dining or other services that cause people from different households to come into contact for extended periods of time and thereby increase the risk of transmission of COVID-19."San Diego County officials voted this week to appeal any "adverse ruling" to a hearing over whether to allow strip clubs to remain open.RELATED: How long can you safely be in a room with someone infected with COVID-19?Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said on Wednesday that the majority of the board doesn't view strip clubs as essential and "felt that was consistent with common sense." "I’m guessing most folks aren’t going there with all the members of their household, so you have multiple households interacting together in a high-risk setting and so we ordered them closed," Fletcher said.The adult entertainment businesses sued to county and state in October over COVID-19 restrictions that forced them to close indoor operations. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Green Flash Brewery has been sold to a new investment group, continuing a turbulent start to the year for the San Diego-based brewery.The company announced Monday the finalized sale to the group made up of "individuals with extensive experience" in craft beer and food and beverage industries.In a letter to shareholders published on The Full Pint, CEO Mike Hinkley said the company's lender, Comerica Bank, had "foreclosed on its loans and sold the assets of the company ... to WC IPA LLC."RELATED: National City adopts 'craft beer ordinance' to attract breweriesGreen Flash had reportedly taken on a loan for the development of a Virginia Beach, Va., brewery, which has also closed."As such, the Company no longer owns the Green Flash and Alpine businesses. Comerica Bank is currently conducting a separate process to sell the Virginia Beach brewery," the letter continued.The Virginia brewery closing followed that of Green Flash's Poway barrel-aging facility, Cellar 3, also closing this year. The Green Flash and Alpine Beer Company brands, the latter of which was picked up by Green Flash in 2014, will continue."The Green Flash and Alpine breweries will continue to operate in San Diego and Alpine, respectively," a release by the brewery said.In the letter, Hinkley blamed a "general slowdown" in the craft beer industry and increased competition as causes of the sell-off. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Firefighters on alert after seeing the latest Wildland Fire Potential Outlook maps released by the National Interagency Fire Center. The maps show San Diego with an above average wildfire potential that increases from June through August and starts to wane slightly in September.Cal Fire Public Information Officer Thomas Shoots said the outlook focuses on three things; "We're dealing with fuel, weather and topography." Shoots said the agency can't do anything about the topography or weather, but every neighbor can do their part reducing fuel, especially around their home.RELATED: How to prepare defensible space around your homeShoots acknowledged the winter weather gave San Diego County a reprieve fire-wise, but it posed a new problem: new growth that's already drying out."A grass fire can run a lot faster and spread faster which means our resources are spread out quicker, and then that means it has the heat and momentum to build up to the bigger fuels," Shoots said.Just down the road, a neighbor had landscapers pruning her yard."I think it's very important to have this done...helps the whole neighborhood," said the woman named Gene.Cal Fire said the best time to get the landscaping work done is before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m.Last week, neighbors in Rancho Santa Fe saw the danger become a reality when Cal Fire said a landscaping crew using the lawn mower sparked a 3-acre fire near Fairbanks Ranch."It's starting to get to the point where it's too late; we need you to clear while we have the chance," Shoots said, referring to hot weather making these incidents more likely."We need all the help we can get," he said."Definitely, they've got a lot of work ahead of them, I think," Gene said.Cal Fire reported this year to June 16th, there have been 1,386 fires, burning 11,954 acres across the state.
