SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A pilot suffered minor injuries Wednesday after a small plane landed hard at Fallbrook Airpark and skidded off a runway.The incident involving a small aircraft was reported just before 9:55 a.m. at the Fallbrook Airpark on 2155 Air Park Rd., authorities said.According to a North County Fire Protection District official, the plane was in the air when it experienced mechanical problems. The pilot landed at the airport, but the plane skidded 50-70 feet off the end of the runway and came to rest in a dirt area.The plane did not catch fire, the department said.The department said the pilot, who was the only person on board, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.ABC 10New learned the FAA will investigate the incident. 788

A week after the county ordered the gym to close, a community outbreak was traced back to the fitness center, according to health officials.The county confirmed on Sunday that the gym has been allowed to reopen after altering their facility to be in compliance with health orders requiring that gyms move workouts outdoors. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who groped and sexually assaulted four female students as they walked to their off-campus housing near SDSU pleaded guilty Monday.Minda Shewangizaw, 20, pleaded guilty to charges including felony and misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and sexual battery.All four victims in the case, who ranged in age from 17 to 19, testified during the preliminary hearing.One of the victims said she and her roommate were walking home after midnight when Shewangizaw came up behind her and “grabbed her butt.RELATED: Women testify against UC Riverside student accused of groping near San Diego State”Her roommate said she noticed someone walking behind them before he began to chase them. "I said, You need to leave. He grabbed my hand and pulled me toward him. He pulled my shirt down and grabbed my breast."She said she kicked Shewangizaw and was able to break free.Another victim testified that she and another woman were on a pedestrian bridge heading back to their dorm when she heard footsteps and was smacked on her “behind” by Schewangizaw."I was livid. I said, What are you doing? Don't do that! He laughed it off."She said she kept walking when the defendant made a remark about her breasts before pulling her shirt down and putting his hands on her chest.A witness said Shewangizaw then grabbed her breast and buttocks and trapped her against a rail before laughing and walking away.The sentencing is scheduled for June 12. 1460

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A power outage was reported Thursday at several buildings on the San Diego State University campus. The outage started about 3:30 p.m. and impacted Hepner Hall, East Commons, Administration, Physical Sciences and the Faculty Staff Club, SDSU reported online. An hour later, campus officials said the outage was caused by flooding the basement of the Physical Sciences building.By 5:17 p.m., power had been restored to Hepner Hall, East Commons, Adams Humanities, Administration and the Faculty Staff Club buildings. Crews were still working to restore power to the Physical Sciences building.“Facilities Services is aware of the issue and actively working to restore power,” the university posted. “If you are in or around the impacted buildings, please remain where you are, and in a safe location,” officials requested.
