More than 60 homeless children and families had their holiday gifts paid for by a group fundraiser. ‘Making San Diego Smile’ formed at the end of November and was able to escort each child on a 0 Walmart shopping spree Wednesday night.“It just brings joy to my heart to know in such a short time we were able to bless so many children,” said Tony Castro, one of the organizers behind 'Making San Diego Smile.'The group says the fundraiser will be much larger next year after knowing the the popularity of it in just a few weeks. 657

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A close family friend is speaking out after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed at a Chula Vista birthday party while defending his friend. Devin Griffiths was stabbed at a birthday party on the 900 block of Maria Way in Chula Vista on January 31. Reid Schneider, a friend of the family, says the party was first advertised on the social media platform Snapchat. Schneider says there was a doorman at the party as well as security guards. Witnesses say an argument between Devin’s friend and another teenager escalated into a fight outside. Devin, who was not involved in the original fight, intervened to help his friend when he was stabbed. "They started hurting Devin’s friend. Devin jumped in and he was beat down pretty bad and stabbed a few times," Schneider said. "He had some severe brain damage. I guess he was considered dead on scene and they kind of brought him back."RELATED: 15-year-old stabbed, killed protecting friend at Chula Vista birthday partyDevin underwent at least five surgeries within the first 12 hours, according to Schneider. He died on February 16 after being taken off life support. "There was a lot of times where we thought there was hope and and unfortunately there was too much damage," Schneider added. Police told 10News Tuesday that the teen “passed away with his family at his side.”A candlelight vigil was held for the teen Wednesday night on the Helix High campus, which is where Devin went to school. A GoFundMe has also been set up to help the family. "He was a kid that has gone through a lot more obstacles than a lot of other kids and adults as a 15-year-old. And he was striving. He was striving and he was going to make something of his life," Schneider said. Next was South Bay Salsas, a beautiful blend of fresh, seasonal Mexican/American fusion. “Every week, it's a little different. Mangoes are fresh, sometimes a little more ripe. New to the farmers market this day was Frida’s street tacos. Owner Robert Ayala tried for 3 years to get a stand at the farmers market. It wouldn’t be a farmers market without farm to table produce. Remberto Cepera owns a produce stand, selling fresh fruit grown on his land. On this day, he has fresh picked prickly pears.“We picked these yesterday," Cepera said.The devotion to his craft is evident. He has seen these beautiful fruits through winter’s frost and summer’s heat. The taste is extraordinary.“It's delicious, and it's good for you," said Cepera. There is a lot more to this farmers market than the farm. There is something for people of all ages. You can take a trip back in time with bomber jackets or flashy disco jackets. A balloon artist delights children while their parents shop.“A lot of people come here for a good time with the family. Tons of great food, tons of great art” said Leo, a balloon artist who has lived in Chula Vista his whole life. He has performed at the farmers market for the past decade. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - At least one man was injured in a traffic collision today on southbound Interstate 805 near East Palomar Street in Chula Vista, the California Highway Patrol said.At 11:10 a.m., a pickup truck flipped onto its side in a crash with a larger truck hauling boxes, according to a CHP incident log. The man was out of his pickup truck bleeding from a head wound.The larger truck continued southbound on I-805 after the crash, the CHP reported. The crash blocked two right lanes and traffic in the area was backed up, CHP officers on the scene said.No further information was immediately available. 620

CINCINNATI — Ohio State Representative John Becker, R-Clermont County, has announced that he has filed articles of impeachment against Gov. Mike DeWine.Becker, who represents the suburbs outside of Cincinnati, drafted the articles back in August to “restore the rule of law” back to the state.On Monday, 12 articles of impeachment were issued by him, along with Reps. Candice Keller, Nino Vitale, and Paul Zeltwanger.All of the representatives that filed the articles were Republicans, just like DeWine.The articles allege DeWine has abused his power as governor and has violated both the Ohio and U.S. Constitutions as well as Ohio Revised Code in issuing COVID-19 health ordinances.“Rather than hearing the cries of Ohioans, Gov.
