Cliff Robinson, a former UConn star and longtime top sixth man in the NBA, has died. His death was confirmed by UConn. No cause of death was given, though former Huskies coach Jim Calhoun said Robinson had a stroke 2 1/2 years ago. Nicknamed Uncle Cliffy, Robinson played 18 seasons in the NBA and helped the Portland Trail Blazers reach two NBA Finals. Before that, he was the centerpiece of Calhoun’s early teams at UConn. CLAY COUNTY, Tennessee — Three people were shot Monday morning at a residence in Clay County, Tennessee, where a school bus driver pulled up to the scene and provided aid.The incident was reported at a home on Crabtree Creek Road and North Fork Road in Whitleyville. A school bus driver called 9-1-1 after he or she pulled up to a stop and realized there had been an incident in the home. Initial reports indicated that the shooting happened on a school bus. However, Clay County School officials confirmed the incident did not happen on the bus. The bus driver gave aid to at least one person in the home.  At least two of the victims were airlifted to Nashville for treatment. A third person was transported by ambulance. 756

Community Health Centers that serve hundreds of thousands of San Diegans are now dealing with millions of dollars in federal cuts.So far, they've instituted a hiring freeze and put expansion plans on hold. But if Congress doesn't act soon, those cuts could force the centers to reduce hours starting in January. "We pray that it won't," said Giselle Brown, who goes to the La Maestra Community Health Center in City Heights for basic medical care. "People would be left out, they wouldn't be getting the proper help or care that they need."La Maestra is part of the Health Center Partners of Southern California network, consisting of 17 low-cost clinics in San Diego, Imperial and Riverside Counties.The Federal Government subsidizes centers like it around the country with about billion a year. But about 70 percent of that is expiring, and the first funds disappeared Sept. 30.
