NEW YORK (AP) — Dunkin' doughnuts and coffee is being combined with Buffalo Wild Wings and Arby's sandwiches.Inspire Brands Inc. said Friday that it is acquiring Dunkin' Brands Group Inc. for .3 billion, including the Dunkin' Brands' debt that Inspire will be taking on.The private-equity firm will pay 6.50 in cash for all of Dunkin' Brands' shares, which closed Friday at .71.Dunkin' Brands' stock surged to an all-time high earlier this week after the company confirmed the two were in merger talks.Dunkin', based in Canton, Massachusetts, also owns the Baskin-Robbins ice cream chain."Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins are category leaders with more than 70 years of rich heritage, and together they are two of the most iconic restaurant brands in the world," Paul Brown, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Inspire Brands, said in the news release.There are 12,500 Dunkin' stores and 8,000 Baskin-Robbins outlets worldwide.Inspire will operate Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins as distinct brands, the company stated.According to the New York Times, this is the largest restaurant acquisition in more than a decade. 1129
NEW YORK (AP) — Century 21 Stores, a destination for bargain hunters looking for fat deals on designer dresses and shoes for nearly 60 years, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.The retail chain says it’s winding down its business, including all 13 stores across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida.Century 21 joins more than two dozen retailers who have filed for bankruptcy since the pandemic which forced non-essential stores to temporarily close.Century 21 said that the decision followed nonpayment by the company’s insurance providers of about 5 million due under policies put in place to protect against losses stemming from business interruption.That insurance money helped it rebuild its downtown Manhattan flagship store after it was damaged by the 9/11 attacks. 794

Fox News Channel, which carried the rally live, had the biggest Saturday night audience in the network's 24-year history. NEW YORK (AP) — Apple has dropped the hugely popular "Fortnite" game from its App Store after the game's developer introduced a direct payment plan that bypasses Apple's platform. Apple takes a 30% cut from in-app revenue purchases, which has long been a sore spot with developers. "Fortnite" is free, but users can pay for in-game accouterments like weapons and skins. The game's developer, Epic Games, said in a blog post it was introducing Epic Direct payments, a direct-payment plan for Apple's iOS and Google Play that bypasses the App Store. Apple said the service violated its guidelines.“Epic enabled a feature in its app which was not reviewed or approved by Apple, and they did so with the express intent of violating the App Store guidelines regarding in-app payments that apply to every developer who sells digital goods or services,” Apple said in a statement to Bloomberg News' Mark Gurman. 912
New York City, along with other parts of the Northeastern United States, were getting pounded on Wednesday by a noisy winter storm, which could leave more than a foot of snow accumulation.The winter storm was so intense on Wednesday, that many in New York City heard thundersnow, which only happens in the most intense of winter storms.
