SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Trips to the grocery store can be tough on the wallets of families trying to make it in San Diego.According to the USDA, a family of four can spend anywhere between 0 and ,300 a month on groceries alone. The bigger the family, the more you spend. San Marcos resident Melanie Anderson says the grocery bill for her family of six was around ,500 a month.“I went to the store with no plan. Whether it’s the meat department, ask to speak to the meat department. If you’re specifically looking for organic produce, ask that. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - You may be owed part of the million in unclaimed money sitting in city coffers, City of San Diego officials said Tuesday. If you have done business with the city in the past three years, you may be due funds from to ,797. Some of the funds are reimbursement checks sent by the city that were undeliverable based on the address on file. Any check uncashed after 6 months becomes unclaimed. “We want to refund every single dollar of unclaimed money,” said Fanela Espiritu, Disbursements Manager with the Department of Finance. “A simple search is all it takes to verify if you were issued a check that has gone unclaimed. There is no charge to search the data or to file a claim.” There are more than 2,100 accounts, city officials said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A new effort is underway to revive a San Diego public golf course that's falling apart.  The "Friends of Presidio Hills Golf" went before the city council Tuesday urging them to take up the issue.  Their plan is to restore the course to its former glory days.Presidio Hills in Old Town is a local golf course with a storied past and an uncertain future."It needs to be completely redone," said John Vallas, who spearheaded the proposal.The place many once called the "cradle of golf" in San Diego is now a long shot from being up to par. 578

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Troops will soon arrive at several bases throughout San Diego County to provide support U.S. Customs and Border Protection as the migrant caravan approaches.According to the United States Northern Command, troops are being sent to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Camp Pendleton, Naval Air Facility El Centro, Naval Base Coronado, Naval Base San Diego and Naval Base Point Loma.The Pentagon confirmed Wednesday that as many as 7,000 troops are being deployed to three states for support, though President Donald Trump told reporters as many as 15,000 could be sent.According to ABC News, 15,000 is roughly the number of troops deployed to Afghanistan and three times the number in Iraq."As far as the caravan is concerned our military is out, we have about 5,000-8 (thousand), we'll go up to anywhere between 10 (thousand) and 15,000 military personnel on top of border patrol, ICE and everybody else on the border," Trump told reporters Wednesday.Related Stories 997
