(AP) -- Authorities say seven people were fatally shot in Southern California at an illegal marijuana growing operation.The crime scene was discovered around 12:30 a.m. Monday when Riverside County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at a residence in the community of Aguanga about 50 miles north of San Diego.Deputies found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds and paramedics took her to a hospital, where she died.Six more people were then found dead. After more than two weeks of a raging inferno, firefighters are getting closer to containing the Camp Fire that has killed 84 people in Northern California.At least 475 people remain unaccounted for so far, down from thousands days earlier, the Butte County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.The state's deadliest wildfire, which started on November 8, is now 95% contained after rain helped firefighters extinguish some of the hot spots, according to Cal Fire."All containment lines continue to hold around the fire," it said. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man has died following a deputy-involved shooting in Alpine Monday afternoon.  The man's family later identified him as Daniel Ayala. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, deputies shot Ayala at an apartment complex on the 2600 block of Alpine Boulevard around 3 p.m. during a confrontation.No deputies were injured, sheriff's officials said.According to Lt. Michael Blevins, dispatchers had received several 911 calls reporting a man yelling in the apartment complex. Blevins said at one point he made statements threatening to kill people. A witness told 10News, Ayala had pounded on his door, yelling incoherently.When deputies arrived they say they went up to Ayala's apartment."He exited the apartment with a knife in his hand and advanced towards the deputies," said Lt. Blevins.That's when the deputies opened fire. Blevins said more than one deputy fired a gun, though he said they were still investigating exactly who discharged their weapon and how many shots were fired. 1064

Albertsons wants to scoop up Rite Aid.The deal announced Tuesday will create a new company with about billion in annual sales and 4,900 stores across the country.Albertsons pharmacies will be rebranded as Rite Aid and some Rite Aids will continue to operate as stand-alone stores. Rite Aid CEO John Standley will become CEO of the new combined company.Walgreens wanted to buy up all of Rite Aid in 2015, but federal regulators nixed that agreement on antitrust grounds. In September, the two companies announced a scaled back version for nearly 2,000 of Rite Aid's stores. That left Rite Aid with around 2,600 stores.The move will allow Albertsons to become "a fully integrated one-stop-shop," Miller said in a statement.Rite Aid jumped 24% in pre-market trading.Albertsons is a privately held company and Rite Aid is public. Alice Modine drives everywhere; to ballet, to yoga, to lunch, and in any weather, but on Saturday she says it was pouring rain and she could not see a thing.She tried to pull over and then noticed water started coming into her car. She had driven her car into a lake off Glades Road east of the Florida Turnpike in western Boca Raton. "I tried to move the car forward and back nothing worked. I tried to pull down the windows they didn’t work, I tried to open the doors nothing worked," Modine said. "So I thought to myself this has happened before, not to me, but to other people and I may stay in the car forever. I’ve lived a good life, I’ve had a very happy life up to now. It just may be the end of it. I didn’t panic. I didn’t feel upset." At peace with herself, she didn't realize it wasn't her time yet and a hero came to her rescue. "The door opened and this very nice young man said 'hold on to me I'll get you to a dry place.' So I held onto him, did exactly as he told me, and he posted me in the grass at Glades where the sidewalk is and he said 'is there anything in the car that you need?' I said, 'yes, I would like to have my purse and all the paperwork pertaining to the car is in the glove compartment,' and he said, 'OK, I’ll get it,'" Modine said.Alice said the young man dove into the water to retrieve her things. She thinks she may have asked him for his name but could not remember. "He was good-looking, probably in his 30s and I somehow think he may have been connected with the military at one time or now because he handled this whole thing so professionally," said Modine said. Modine is hoping that the young man who helped her on Saturday will see this story and come forward so she can thank him properly. "I’ve been haunted by this wish to be able to thank him because I really must thank him for my life," she said.  1959
