Measure C would increase San Diego’s hotel visitor tax from 10.5 percent to 11.75, 12.75 and 13.75 percent depending on hotel location through at least 2061.The money would go toward expanding the convention center, funding homelessness programs and fixing San Diego roads. According to the “Yes on C” campaign, the measure would create 7 million for homeless programs in the first five years of the initiative. The campaign also says the measure would create 7,000 jobs. The measure requires two-thirds supermajority to pass. A 10News-San Diego Union-Tribune poll shows that, as of February, 61 percent support the measure while 21 percent are opposed and 18 percent are undecided. “A majority of San Diegans are uniting behind Measure C because it is straight forward in its approach to tackling the city’s most pressing issues with a tax on tourists, not San Diegans," said Greg Block, a spokesman for the Measure C campaign. "People already know Measure C will help with homelessness, street repair and job creation by expanding of the Convention Center."Michael McConnell, an advocate for the homeless, is leading the opposition and warns the measure has “loopholes and risks.”"They are hiding up to Billion in bonds with no guarantee that money will be spent the right way," he said in a statement. Pitsenbarger, Jr. who rescued more than 60 men during the Vietnam War. Casting Director Iris Hampton fell in love with the script the first time she read it, "I couldn't put it down, it was so beautiful." She was born and raised in San Diego in a military family and married a Marine Veteran, bringing the plot close to home.Hampton got into the business during a vacation to Hawaii. She said she went to the Magnum P.I. office and asked if they needed any help, "they said not right now, but why don't you come back in three months? So I came home, packed my bags and I went."Since then she's worked with big names like Chuck Norris and the Power Rangers. "I am going on my 28th and 29th season of that show," she said referring to the Power Rangers.Seven years ago she signed on to The Last Full Measure. The movie follows Pitsenbarger, Jr. during Operation Abilene in the Vietnam War. He descended from a helicopter while troops were under fire and rescued as many as he could, before he was killed.The film then follows the men who worked for decades to get Pitsenbarger, Jr. the Medal of Honor. "It ended up being 32 years they fought for him to get the medal of honor," she said."Pitts was a hero and a legend," Hampton said paratroopers idolize him.With a deep love and respect for the military, Hampton said this project is the pinnacle of her career.She signed stars like Samuel L. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was Tased in the face and stabbed several times during a fight in the Rolando Park neighborhood, according to police. The incident happened near Newsome Drive and Odom Street around 1:19 a.m. Sunday. According to police, two brothers were visiting their girlfriends in the neighborhood when the two men got into a fight with a nearby group. RELATED: Man shot in Encanto, police searching for suspectDuring the fight, one of the brothers was Tased in the face by a woman and stabbed in the back three times by an unknown suspect. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local marine is recovering from COVID-19 while deployed overseas.Jennifer Dulaney says her husband, Kyle, was deployed in April and is serving at a base in Okinawa. He tested for COVID-19 earlier this month.“My husband called me on a Monday morning as I was getting ready for work and said he felt like he was getting symptoms,” Jennifer said.Kyle got worse and was eventually sent to the ICU. His condition began to worsen that he qualified for the Remdesivir. It was described as an experimental drug, and doctors needed Jennifer’s permission to administer it to Kyle.Jennifer is a nurse and knew that COVD-19 could be very severe.“I know where COVID can go, they can spiral downwards real fast,” she said, “so for me, the benefits outweighed the risk.”Jennifer said he began to show improvement on the fifth day. She was able to him Friday morning.“They were drawing his lab work because that’s one of the things with the experimental (treatment), they have to watch things very closely,” she described, “but he actually laughed on the phone, he was able to talk to me without coughing. It’s amazing.”She hopes her husband will be out of the ICU within the next two days.During the difficult time, Jennifer took a leave of absence from her job. She said it was difficult to continue working as a nurse while worrying about her husband’s health. So to help with finances, a friend started a GoFundMe for their family.
