HANOI, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- China and Vietnam vowed to promote healthy, stable and long-term development of bilateral ties with the guideline of "long-term stability, future-orientation, good-neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation," according to a joint press communique issued here on Monday by the two defense ministries.The two countries vowed to advance bilateral comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership and always be good neighbors, friends, comrades and partners, according to the joint communique issued on the occasion of Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Liang Guanglie' s visit to Vietnam.According to the communique, China and Vietnam will continue to strengthen defense cooperation to promote military ties and bilateral relations.The two sides agreed to maintain the fine tradition of exchanging high-level military delegations and give full play to the bilateral defense and security consultation mechanism, said the communique.China and Vietnam are committed to settling all disputes though peaceful means and safeguarding regional peace and stability, said the communique.The two countries reiterated to enhance coordination and interaction in multilateral forums like United Nations and ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus), an enlarged ADMM with participation of eight dialogue partners, according to the communique.China and Vietnam also expressed the willingness to deepen cooperation in tackling non-traditional security challenges under the framework of ADMM-Plus and deepen cooperation in humanitarian efforts like disaster relief, said the communique.Liang arrived in Vietnam on Sunday for an official and friendly visit. He has met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nong Duc Manh and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung respectively. He is scheduled to attend ADMM-Plus slated for Tuesday.

BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Vice Premier Li Keqiang has said China would advance practical cooperation with the European Union (EU) in all areas.Li made the remarks Friday when meeting with a delegation from the European People's Party and European Democrats (EPP-ED), which is the largest group in the European Parliament.China hopes the two sides work together to expand common interests, respect each other's core interests and major concerns, so as to promote the China-EU relationship in a maturer and more steady way, Li said during the meeting.Since the two sides forged diplomatic ties 35 years ago, China and the EU had scored leap-forward development in bilateral relationship, which was exerting more and more influence to the world peace and development, Li said.Noting inter-party contacts constitute an important part of China-EU relations, Li, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said the CPC is willing to deepen dialogue and exchanges with the EPP-ED.Joseph Daul, chairman of the EPP-ED and also head of the delegation, said he is willing to cement inter-party exchanges with the CPC and push forward the EU-China relations.

BEIJING, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday confirmed it had started preparations for President Hu Jintao's visit to the United States early next year, which the ministry said would be profound and far-reaching for bilateral ties."China and the United States have maintained close communications about the visit, which will be very important and will bring far-reaching influence for bilateral relations in new era," spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a regular press briefing.Although Hu's U.S. visit had long been under discussion, it was the first time that China's foreign ministry confirmed the visit and elaborated on its significance.Ma said both China and the United States would like to see a successful visit that will boost the positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-U.S. relationship in the 21st century.At their meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Toronto in June, U.S. President Barack Obama formally invited Hu to pay a state visit to the United States early next year. BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's financial sector should better serve the transformation of economic growth pattern in the country while keeping high alert on possible risks, Vice Premier Wang Qishan said Friday.Wang said the financial sector should give full play to monetary policies and continue to optimize lending structures to boost weak points like agricultural sectors, small enterprises and innovation.Lending to sectors with excessive energy consumption, high emission of pollutants, or with overcapacity, must be strictly limited, he told a group of provincial or ministerial-level officials who attended a training seminar in Beijing.The seminar closing on Friday focused on how to promote the reform of financial sector in China while guarding against financial risks, which Wang said was highly necessary considering current situation.Wang urged officials at various levels to continually learn to upgrade their knowledge and working abilities in the financial sector.As China's financial sector was still in an initial growth phase, it should unswervingly boost reforms and its opening-up, promote mechanism innovation and complete the development of the financial market system, he said.

MUSCAT, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- China's top political adviser Jia Qinglin arrived here Saturday for an official goodwill visit intended to promote the development of relations between China and Oman.Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, delivered a written speech at the airport of the Omani capital.In the speech, Jia hailed the traditional friendship and fruitful cooperation between China and Oman, which was once connected by the "Silk Road", pledging to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries and the two peoples through his visit.Oman is the third leg of Jia's four-state visit. He has visited Syria and Poland and will visit Kazakhstan.
