CINCINNATI – Police arrested a Cincinnati woman Tuesday after she left her 7-month-old child in her vehicle while she visited a hair salon, according to court records.Jaimyce McClinton, 37, is charged with one count of endangering a child.An officer found McClinton's baby locked in the vehicle as the temperature outside reached 76 degrees, court records state.The arresting officer noted the “feels like” temperature outside was 84 degrees.Police said the baby was left alone in the locked vehicle for 34 minutes.Court records did not state the baby’s condition or the location of the salon. 611

(KGTV) -- The Chula Vista Police Department received a nearly 0,000 grant to help fight human trafficking, the Department of Justice announced Tuesday.According to the department, Chula Vista Police is the only local law enforcement department in California to receive the grant.The money was granted to the department through the Department’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) Community Policing Development (CPD) Microgrants Program.“Additional funds to respond to the threat of human trafficking are particularly important now,” said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. “The coronavirus pandemic has young people spending countless hours on their phones, and unfortunately this renders them prey for human traffickers who exploit social media.” “The CPD Microgrants Program is a critical resource to advance innovative community policing projects across the country,” said COPS Office Director Phil Keith. “These strategic investments from the COPS Office pay huge dividends to state and local law enforcement agencies and the communities that they serve.”A total of 29 law enforcement agencies throughout the country were awarded similar grants.According to the DOJ, the money is granted to departments to improve enforcement in the following areas:? CHULA VISTA (KGTV) – A Chula Vista man says he could have been seriously hurt by a razor blade attached to the handlebar of a shopping cart.Jason Rodriguez says he was with his wife and young daughter, shopping at the Walmart on Eastlake Parkway Wednesday morning.“Normally we put her in the shopping cart, but I’m glad we didn’t this time,” Rodriguez said.Rodriguez discovered the blade when he went to wipe down the cart handle.  It was attached by magnets to the bottom of the handlebar.“I could have been cut. I could have caught a disease of some sort,” Rodriguez said. “There are crazy people out there who do dumb things for who knows what reason.”Rodriguez says he alerted store management to the incident. (KGTV) -- A man died Friday after a fight broke out at a party in Chula Vista, police say.Chula Vista Police say they were called to the 1100 block of Ocelot Avenue around 11:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a loud party.After arriving on scene, bystanders directed officers to the 400 block of East Oxford in reference to a fight.When they arrived, police found two men bleeding from unknown injuries. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Experts at the Living Coast Discovery Center are keeping a close watch on their animals after a student jumped into a shark enclosure on Tuesday. The video featured a Montgomery High School student climbing on rocks before jumping in the enclosure and swimming a lap. LCDC officials believe the student took part in the stunt on a dare. The boy was not in any danger from the sharks, which were primarily sharks that don't like to be spooked, experts said. "They don't like to be scared by all those quick motions and loud noises," said Elizabeth Argyle, the director of education and guest experience for the center. "You don't know the consequences that you're going to create, and for the animals, they get spooked by it." None of the animals were harmed. The center's care staff said their animals are doing well and a veterinarian performs check-ups weekly. The student’s actions took place weeks before the center is set to open a new display. The exhibit, called the "Sea of Change" will be about co-existing with and respecting animals, focusing on how humans can live with them harmoniously, said Argyle. "We're very deeply disappointed in the actions that some of these students chose to do," Argyle added. She hopes this incident will serve as a teachable moment for others. The Sweetwater Union High School District said the teen’s behavior was inappropriate. School officials are working with LCDC to prevent similar incidents from happening again and create an opportunity for appropriate restitution for the student. 1568
