Perry Hopsin was just 22 years old when he got into a car accident that would eventually end his life."My brother, he has been to multiple healthcare facilities, fighting for his life for 10 months," said Parris Hopsin.Last month, Perry died and just as his family was starting to cope with the fact that they would never see him again, the same car he was killed in, popped up in front of Perry High School in Stark County, Ohio.The family says it was there to promote their prom promise campaign-which tries to deter teens from drinking and driving."Our family was under the impression that the car was still being held as evidence in this ongoing investigation," said Parris.The only problem is the Hopsins family never consented to it and their loved one was not drinking and driving."It was definitely not the way Perry would want to be represented and/or our family would want him to be represented and remembered," she said.The school has now removed the car and it's back in the towing company's lot."I really appreciate that they would remove it," said Parris. PASADENA, Calif. -- Police are searching for the person they say dropped a basketball-sized boulder from a highway overpass onto a car, killing a pregnant widow’s husband, according to ABC News.The incident happened on Tuesday night in Pasadena, California.Guadalupe Gutierrez said she was driving home with her husband, Christopher Lopez, her mother and 4-year-old daughter when a 35-pound boulder went through the windshield and struck Lopez.Gutierrez took him to the hospital where he later died.The California Highway Patrol said the incident is an intentional act by a “careless person or persons.” 611

PIKELOT ISLAND – Like out of a movie, three missing mariners were rescued from a deserted island in the Pacific after writing “SOS” in the sand.Authorities in the U.S. and Australia say the three men departed Puluwat Atoll on a 23-foot skiff last Thursday, intending to travel 21 nautical miles to Pulap, Chuuk.However, they never made it to their destination and were reported missing, according to the Anderson Air Force Base, Guam. A rescue mission was then launched.“Joint Rescue Sub-Center Guam received notification of an overdue skiff last seen in the vicinity of Chuuk and requested our assistance,” said U.S. Air Force Maj. Shaun McRoberts, 506th Air Expeditionary Aerial Refueling Squadron assistant director of operations. “Once notified, we began immediately working a plan to launch crews to locate the missing vessel.”After almost three hours into their mission and flying at about 1,500 feet, rescue crews located the mariners on the tiny, uninhabited island of Pikelot, Yap.“We were toward the end of our search pattern,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Jason Palmeira-Yen. “We turned to avoid some rain showers and that’s when we looked down and saw an island, so we decide to check it out and that’s when we saw SOS and a boat right next to it on the beach. From there we called in the Australian Navy because they had two helicopters nearby that could assist and land on the island.”Early in the morning on Monday, authorities say a small boat crew was launched and rescued the mariners.The sailors told officials that they ran off course while traveling and eventually ran out of gas, according to the Australian Navy. 1643

Police are investigating an alleged sexual misconduct incident at Las Brisas Academy in Goodyear, Arizona.The allegations were first reported to the principal Wednesday night, by the parent of the victim, who found text message conversations between 27-year-old Brittany Zamora and her 13-year-old male student.The conversation indicated there were sexual activities happening between the two, on and and off campus. According to police records, the teen's parents were alerted to the explicit messages by a parental app.After initially reporting the relationship to the Las Brisas principal, the 13-year-old's father also contacted Buckeye police.In a report made to police, the victim's father said he received a phone call from Zamora and her husband, who were allegedly "pleading with him not to contact the police." During the call, Zamora's husband reportedly asked to "meet up" and "settle this." 921
