SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — SeaWorld's next big attraction is on track to open later this spring.Construction on the park's Tidal Twister roller coaster is set to be completed in May of this year, the park said Wednesday. The roller coaster is being hailed as a first-of-its-kind coaster with a figure-8, horizontal design and dueling trains in which riders sit both backward and forward.Tidal Twister will take riders on a journey as if they're riding the tide, accelerating 30 miles an hour, twisting and banking on a figure-8 track, and crossing an opposite facing train in the middle of the attraction. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police say no foul play was involved with human remains discovered in a fire pit last month.The remains were discovered by a man on Oct. 29, 2020, just after 10:30 a.m. in the fire pit located on the east end of Fiesta Island, according to police. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego’s newest ride is shut down for maintenance, according to Cal/OSHA.According to the agency, Tidal Twister was shut down June 1, roughly two weeks after its opening on May 24. The ride was shut down to address mechanical issues. Cal/OSHA says SeaWorld is working with the manufacturer to repair the ride. According to an early report from the Brennan Center for Justice, San Diego’s violent crime rate fell by 0.7 percent. Overall, however, crime is up.
