National security adviser H.R. McMaster has agreed to resign and will be replaced by former US ambassador and Fox News analyst John Bolton, President Donald Trump announced in a tweet on Thursday."I pleased to announce that, effective 4/9/18, @AmbJohnBolton will be my new National Security Advisor. Nearly 200 feral horses were found dead in Gray Mountain, an unincorporated town on Navajo land in Coconino County, Arizona.Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye and Vice President Jonathan Nez traveled to Tuba City on Wednesday to address the situation, where 191 horses were found dead in a stock pond.President Begaye said their deaths are due to drought and famine."This tragic incident exemplifies the problem the Navajo Nation faces in an overpopulation of feral horses," Begaye said. Over the years, Gray Mountain has seen an uptick in feral horses. For instance, there's an estimated amount of 50,000 to 70,000 feral horses on the Navajo Nation. Government officials are at the site to keep the area closed off and prevent diseases from being spread, a press release said. The area will be fenced off permanently and the horses will be buried onsite after officials considered multiple factors."The horses are anywhere from thigh to neck deep in the mud," said Nina Chester, a government spokeswoman. "This is our most humane and safest option."The Navajo Water Management Branch confirmed that the plan does not pose a threat to groundwater.  1195

MOAB, Utah — After a suddenly world-famous "monolith" of unknown origin was removed by an unknown person or group late Friday night, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) said there was a sharp increase in visitors to the area — many of whom failed to follow fundamental rules of recreating on public land.The installation itself, the BLM pointed out, was illegal — although the agency added that for some, it was "a welcome distraction from the 2020 news cycle."The BLM added that it did not remove the monolith or call for its removal and was in the midst of investigating where it came from when it vanished.The agency was concerned that the area was not "developed for heavy visitation," yet throngs of people showed up, mostly during Thanksgiving week.The agency said that many visitors parked their vehicles on vegetation and drove off of designated roads and trails, both of which are illegal. MISSOURI (KMOV) -- A state representative from western Missouri wants to ban porn access for everyone in the state unless you pay up.Representative Jim Neely (R-Cameron) says the idea behind his bill is simple: protecting kids.The bill says a distributor who makes or sells a product that is accessible to the internet, like a phone or a computer would be required to install a blocking software that would prevent the device from accessing obscene material.Neely says it would apply to all porn. A person could have the blocking software removed if they prove they are more 18-years-old and pays a deactivation fee. The money would go into a fund called the “Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Prevention Fund.”When pressed on how the blocking software would work, Neely said it would be similar to how schools block students from websites, but when pressed he admitted, he wasn’t sure of the logistics.“I’m a physician, I don’t know computers,” said Neely in a phone interview.Cindy Wallace is the manager of Simple Pleasures Boutique in south St. Louis. They have a large adult video collection.“I just don’t see how they would be able to do it number one and number two, I think there are more things in every single state to worry about besides people watching porn,” said Wallace.The ACLU of Missouri said the bill adds an “unreliable and unconstitutional filter.”“While this legislation may seem like a way to make communities safer, it will cause more harm than good by censoring constitutionally protected speech and creating far-reaching, long-term consequences when it comes to Missourians’ privacy,” said Jeffrey Mittman, executive director, ACLU of Missouri“This bill will invade the privacy of Missourians who have not engaged in any criminal act.”The bill says if a distributor fails to block the prohibited sites, they could face a civil lawsuit.News 4 asked Attorney General Josh Hawley about the proposed legislation but he said he would have to read up on it.Nearly identical legislation was introduced in Alabama and Rhode Island.The bill has not yet gone to committee. 2112

Millions of stimulus checks have gone out, but there are people still wondering where their checks are. Some might have thrown them out by mistake, but a local woman tells us she’s been getting the runaround about her check after complaining to the post office. Here’s how you can rebound from possible lost or stolen stimulus money.“I’m very hurt. I feel very let down,” said Racquel Hill from Warrensville Heights. She has no idea where her stimulus check is. “It’s something that I could still use. My children could use. And that I am in need of, she told us.She’s a single mother of two baby girls.“From February basically up to now, I’ve been without.”Hill showed us the IRS website reported her check was mailed on April 24. However, she also has a different address now. She had been living in Mayfield Heights.“Every time I contact (a representative of the Mayfield Heights Post Office), she tells me a different story,” said Hill. “She tells me, ‘Oh, we never received it. Then, she tells me it’s been forwarded back to the IRS. Then, she tells me it’s been forwarded to Warrensville Heights Post Office.”A spokesperson for the post office would not confirm if the overall USPS has received any similar complaints here or around the country.“Then where is it? Is someone stealing the check? Did someone mishandle the check?” questioned Hill. “I want to know what happened to the check and how many other people this has happened to.”“I know sometimes people aren’t really sure…what that check is,” said Scott Balfour. He investigates possible mail fraud through the USPS Office of Inspector General in Cleveland. He told us his office has had less than a handful of complaints about possible lost or stolen checks. “As an investigator what we are able to do is make contact with an investigator from the Treasury Department,” explained Special Agent Balfour. “They will let us know if that particular check has been cashed by someone it wasn’t intended for.”Hill told us Balfour is looking into her stimulus check problems. Meanwhile, The IRS within the last week or so sent out a warning about COVID-19 and stimulus check fraud. If you find that you haven’t gotten your check or debit card and you think it’s been stolen, you can file a claim at Tips.TIGTA.Gov.“Several different federal agencies are involved in this effort to monitor the mailing of those to make sure those checks get into the hands of people who deserve them,” said Balfour.He also said you can contact his office through USPSOIG.GOV or call 888-USPS-OIG.Hill said she is happy her case is getting attention but feels others might not be. “I feel sorry for me but I also feel sorry for other families, as well, who may be enduring this type of pain,” she told us.Keep in mind that the IRS still hasn’t gotten all of the checks out in the mail just yet, and there are many other reasons including filing status in the past two years that could impact how soon you see stimulus money.WEWS' Jonathan Walsh was first to report this story. 3023
