SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Democrat Ammar-Campa Najjar and Republican Darrell Issa have emerged as the favorites to represent East County's 50th Congressional District, according to a scientific poll released Tuesday. The 10News/Union-Tribune scientific poll comes one week before the March primary, in which voters will head to the polls for the first time since Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter resigned in January after pleading guilty to one count of felony campaign fraud. The poll, of 552 likely voters, shows Campa-Najjar, the lone household Democrat, leading the field with 35 percent of the vote. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Frustrated business owners are speaking out after a rash of break-ins at local wineries and breweries.Lisa Miller, the co-owner of Koi Zen Cellars in Carmen Mountain Ranch, says her heart sank after she arrived at her winery one morning a few weeks ago."The plant was move to the side and the window was completely shattered. My heart started pounding. I got very anxious," said Miller.Inside, she tasted more anxiety. Police believe the intruder was looking for the cash register, something Miller doesn't have. Instead, the burglar grabbed 40 pieces of consignment jewelry valued at more than ,000."When the detective arrived, he said this has been happening in other wineries and breweries in the area," said Miler.Longship Brewery in Mira Mesa in early April: surveillance video shows a person in a hoodie breaking a window, then crawling through the window. Two days later at the Black Plague Brewery in Oceanside, an intruder wearing a mask and hoodie kicked through a window, slipped in and raced right for the cash drawer, before leaving and driving off in a white Jeep Patriot. Detectives told Miller some 18 breweries and wineries targeted in the past few months. "This makes me really sad, mom-and-pop places put their heart and soul into their business no matter what their business is. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Fire crews battled several spot fires that popped up near Interstate 8 in Alpine Thursday afternoon.The vegetation fire, called the Victoria Fire, started near I-8 and Victoria Drive around 4 p.m., heavily impacting traffic in the area.Crews from Cal Fire San Diego and other fire agencies attacked the flames from the ground and air and were able to get a handle on the blaze by 5:30 p.m.All eastbound lanes of I-8 at Willows Road were shut down for a few hours as fire crews worked. The lanes reopened before 8 p.m.While the Victoria Fire only grew to two acres, it left some families on edge as the heat continues throughout the week.An excessive heat warning goes into effect Friday through Monday for the inland areas to the deserts. A spokesperson for Cal Fire San Diego said they are fully staffed to handle any fires that may happen.The cause of the Victoria Fire is still under investigation. 929
