NAIROBI, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Kenya and China vowed to strengthen bilateral cooperation on Monday during a meeting between senior officials of the two friendly countries.     Wang Jiarui, visiting minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s Central Committee, said the Chinese ruling party would engage Kenya's political parties --the Orange Democratic Party-Kenya, the Party of National Unity and the Orange Democratic Party in support of the stability of the Kenyan Grand Coalition Government.     Wang said his country valued the eastern African nation as an important partner in the continent.     "Our bilateral relation is very cordial as this has been demonstrated by sincere trust and mutual cooperation between the two countries. We also expect to explore inter-party cooperation to enable the two countries exchange views and address issues of mutual interest," Wang said in talks with Kenyan Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.     He said the Sino-Kenyan friendship dates back to ancient times and that the past four decades of bilateral diplomatic ties have witnessed great development of friendship and successful cooperation in such fields as politics, infrastructure and trade, as well as mutual support in international affairs.     "We will work with the three parties that form the ruling coalition government. We know that these three parties are key to the stability of this country. Without stability there can be no development," he said.     Musyoka expressed thanks for China's assistance for Kenya in the past years and introduced Kenya's efforts to push forward regional peace, stability and integration.     Musyoka said Kenyan political parties have a lot to learn from CPC in spurning economic growth.     "I am aware that China's booming economy is largely inspired by the effective management of the CPC of the country's economic affairs," he noted.     The vice president said Kenya and China will work together to find ways of resolving the challenges facing their citizens.     He also thanked China for refurbishing the road linking the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to the UN headquarters in Nairobi and the construction of stadia in Kenya.     "Today China is constructing various roads across the country including the one from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to the United Nations headquarters. China has also oil exploration companies and with all these, we hope to expand other areas of cooperation and reach mutual understanding to enable both sides to benefit," he said.     Musyoka told Wang the east African nation appreciates the huge investment China has put into Kenya's infrastructure.     He expressed hope that more Chinese tourists will visit Kenya as part of efforts to balance trade, while urging China to launch direct flights to Nairobi to help spur economic growth and boost the country's tourism.     Musyoka pledged that the Kenyan coalition government attaches much importance to bilateral relations with China and will further strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields.

ROME, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao held talks with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano on Monday, calling for a boost to ties between the two countries.     During the talks, Hu said Chinese-Italian relations have witnessed healthy and stable expansion over the past 39 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations. In 2004, the two countries agreed to establish an all-around strategic partnership, unveiling a new page for Chinese-Italian friendly cooperation, Hu said.     As next year will mark the 40th anniversary of the forging of bilateral diplomatic relations, China is willing to join hands with Italy to lift bilateral ties to a higher level, Hu said. Chinese President Hu Jintao (L) shakes hands with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano prior to their talks in Rome, capital of Italy, July 6, 2009.     According to a press release issued by the Chinese delegation, Napolitano agreed with Hu, saying cooperation between Italy and China has seen smooth expansion in a wide range of fields.     Napolitano said Italy is willing to further increase its economic cooperation and trade with China, exert every effort to host the "Chinese Culture Year" in Italy and push forward the development of bilateral ties at large.     In order to boost the ties, the Chinese president offered a five-point proposal, according to the press release.     Firstly, Hu said the two countries should increase communications, exchanges and mutual visits between high-level leaders.     Hu proposed that both sides host various events to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, adding that much attention should be attached to the "Chinese Culture Year" next year in Italy.     Secondly, Hu said the two sides should enhance political mutual trust and understand each other's major concerns.     The Taiwan and Tibet issues are the key concerns of the Chinese side, Hu said, urging Italy to understand China's concerns and offer support.     Hu also said he believed Italy would continue to exert its influence within the European Union to boost the EU-China ties at large.     Thirdly, Hu urged both sides to expand substantial cooperation on various fields such as trade, investment, science and technology, environment protection, medicine and tourism.     Fourthly, the Chinese president said both sides should increase people-to-people communications and cultural exchanges in order to boost their bilateral friendship.     Finally, Hu urged both sides to conduct more cooperation and communications in international organizations and on multi-national occasions.     Hu said both countries could enhance dialogue and coordination on various major international issues such as the global financial crisis, reform of the UN Security Council, climate change, environment protection and sustainable development.     Napolitano, on his part, praised China for its important role in the international arena as well as in addressing major global challenges.     He said he appreciates China's role in the G20 summit, the G8 + 5 summit and active participation in UN peacekeeping actions.     He also said the Italian side spoke highly of the measures China has taken to tackle the global financial crisis and economic downturn. He noted that China's participation is a must for the international community in its move to tackle the crisis, reform the international financial system and realize sustainable development.     On the EU-China relations, Napolitano said Italy would continue to play an active role in boosting the ties.     The president also reiterated Italy's adherence to the one-China policy.     According to the press release, Hu also briefed his Italian counterpart on the latest social and economic developments in China.     The two leaders held the talks at the Quirinal Palace, and Napolitano hosted a grand welcoming ceremony in honor of Hu prior to the talks.     Hu arrived in Rome earlier on Sunday for a state visit at the invitation of Napolitano.     Hu was also to attend the summit of the Group of Eight and major developing countries later this week in the central Italian city of L'Aquila.     This is the sixth time that the Chinese president has attended the G8 outreach session. The previous one took place in the northern Japanese resort of Toyako last July.     The G8, an informal forum of leading industrialized nations, includes Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Japan, the United States, Canada and Russia.

BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- China and Brazil issued a joint communique on Tuesday to boost their strategic partnership as Brazilian president visited Beijing.     Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva agreed that both countries have enjoyed fruitful cooperation since forging diplomatic ties 35 years ago, the communique said. They believed it is of great significance to further facilitate China-Brazil strategic partnership at the current stage.     The two countries signed cooperative agreements in politics, law, science, space ,finance, port, energy and agricultural products, among others.     Lula da Silva reiterated in the communique his country's adherence to the one-China policy and admitted that the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government of China and Taiwan is a part of China. The project was considered a technology cooperation model between the developing countries.     The two sides also agreed to expand cooperation in education, culture, press, tourism and sports. China welcomes Brazil to set up a general consulate in Guangzhou, capital city of south China's Guangdong Province, the document said.     Brazil will participate in the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, and the president wished the World Expo a complete success, according to the communique.     The two developing nations agreed to keep close contacts within the frameworks of the Group of Five(G5) and the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China), and enhance coordination with other developing countries, to increase the participation and voices of developing countries in international affairs.     Hu and Lula da Silva believe and the two countries have taken "important" measures to tackle the global economic downturn, and made positive contribution to maintain respective economic growth and global economic recovery, the communique said. YEKATERINBURG, Russia, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao Tuesday presented a four-point proposal for dealing with the ongoing global financial crisis at the first summit meeting of BRIC countries which groups Brazil, Russia, India and China.     First, BRIC countries should commit themselves to bringing about an early recovery of the world economy, Hu said. "We should work hard to overcome the difficulties and try to take the lead in recovering from the global financial crisis," he said, adding "This is not only for our own need, but also contributes to world economic recovery." He also called for greater food assistance and closer agricultural and food cooperation.     "We should also accelerate our efforts in developing clean and renewable energy, and establish advanced research and promotion systems in a bid to diversity our energy supply," Hu said.     He urged the four countries to strengthen information exchanges and communication, share the experience on epidemics preventions and control, and work together to develop and share vaccines, and cooperate in pandemic control and prevention.
