This year, more than half of all U.S. states have had confirmed or possible cases of acute flaccid myelitis, the polio-like illness that can cause paralysis and mostly affects children, according to an exclusive CNN analysis.CNN reached out to health departments in every state; 48 states responded, plus the District of Columbia. Of those, 30 states said they had cases that were confirmed, suspected or being investigated -- including 15 states that said they had confirmed cases in 2018.In total, CNN found 47 confirmed cases and 49 more that were suspected or being investigated, for a total of 96.The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which releases only confirmed numbers, says 16 states had 38 cases as of September 30. Thomas Magnum has lost his sidekick. John Hillerman, the actor who played Magnum P.I. sidekick Jonathan Higgins, died on Thursday at the age of 84. According to TMZ, he died at his home in Houston. The cause of his death is unknown. Hillerman's portrayal of Higgins was plotted as a foil for the title character in Magnum P.I., which ran for eight seasons on CBS. Hillerman won an Emmy Award in 1987 for his performance. Besides his role on Magnum P.I., Hillerman appeared in nearly two dozen feature films, and even more television shows. TOWN OF DOVER, Wis. -- Authorities believe a woman who escaped from the Robert E. Ellsworth Correctional Center Thursday broke into a nearby home and stole a pickup truck. The escapee was identified as 36-year-old Christine Abel.The Racine County Sheriff's Office was alerted to a break-in at a home 2 miles away from the prison at around 9:30 p.m. Someone stole a 2007 black GM Sierra pickup with a registration plate of MZ1698. An hour later, the prison reported Abel missing during a head count.  522

"Forest health experts help identify areas where Christmas trees can be cut, opening up forage for wildlife and allowing the remaining trees to grow larger."According to the Forest Service, there are specific guidelines to follow, including having your permit on you at all times.
