SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are searching for a gunman after one person was shot and injured in the Logan Heights area on Sunday.Police said a 24-year-old man was sitting on his porch at 2248 Ocean View Blvd. when a vehicle drove up. A suspect exited the passenger side of the vehicle and fire one shot, hitting the victim in the buttocks.The suspect got back in the vehicle and fled the scene.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.SDPD officers are investigating the shooting. 532

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego City Councilmember Jennifer Campbell on Tuesday is expected to formally announce enforcement plans to help with concerns over crowd control in Ocean Beach.Campbell, who represents District 2, said in a news release, “Our office continues to field calls regarding increased crowds gathering at Veteran’s Plaza in Ocean Beach on Wednesday evenings. While I appreciate the San Diego Police Department’s increased presence last week, it’s clear more comprehensive action needs to be taken to keep San Diegans safe.”Residents in the area say large gatherings have been consistently happening despite San Diego County public health orders restricting mass gatherings.According to OB residents, big crowds assemble Wednesday nights at Veteran’s Plaza, and many attendees are seen not wearing masks or practicing social distancing.Ocean Beach Town Council President Mark Winkie told ABC 10News in a previous interview that residents “want people to understand this is our community. You’re welcome to be here, but you need to adhere to social distancing rules and respect our community.”Winkie has met with City of San Diego officials about the gatherings in OB. He said the city was looking to shut down Veteran’s Plaza to help with enforcement.On Tuesday morning, ABC 10News spotted city crews placing plastic netting at the park.While he said the town council is not happy the park is closing, Winkie said a closure would allow needed renovations at the park to be done.The OB Town Council has also been pushing for more education to remind people about following the rules.Winkie said he’s been told health officials will be at Veterans Plaza on Wednesday nights to spread the word about county health guidelines. 1746

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas and Electric is warning more than 88,000 customers of a possible multi-day power shutoff due to Santa Ana Winds.According to the company, the public safety power shutoff could happen as early as Wednesday night or Thursday morning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County will launch a new public awareness campaign this week on COVID-19 as the number of community coronavirus outbreaks increased by three, to a total of 10 in the past seven days, officials reported Monday.Two other triggers involving the growth of new cases and the positivity rate of tests are "not moving in the right direction," said Supervisor Nathan Fletcher."These are concerning numbers," Fletcher said. "They're concerning because they clearly represent an increase in community spread and number of cases tied to our reopening and the fact that more people are out doing more things." The county says there are currently 59 active community outbreaks, including 17 in skilled nursing facilities, 20 in non-skilled nursing facilities, and 22 in community settings.The three new outbreaks were traced to construction, retail manufacturing, and retail businesses in different parts of the county, according to Dr. Eric McDonald, the medical director of the county Health and Human Services Agency's Epidemiology and Immunization Branch.RELATED: How San Diego County officials monitor coronavirus trendsMcDonald provided more context to the outbreaks, adding that all outbreaks to date except for two have included 10 or fewer people — including the three newest outbreaks.He also said that no outbreaks have been related to recent demonstrations around the county.A community outbreak is considered three or more cases from the same place.The county will launch a public education campaign involving a new infographic on the use of facial coverings beginning this week, said county Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten. 1669
