SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Restaurant workers across San Diego County returned to work Friday, after a Superior Court judge ruled restaurants could serve on-site.Martin Cardenas was right back on the job Friday morning, prepping Chula Vista's El Cruce 241 for what he hoped was a sizable lunch crowd.“You have to understand, it is around the holidays, we're social distancing, we're sanitizing everything, we're doing everything in our capacity to stay safe,” he said.But the governor's office says those precautions are still not enough, with ICU capacity at 0% in Southern California due to the coronavirus spread.In early December, the state reduced county restaurants to takeout only, eliminating thousands of jobs. The state reported Friday that nearly 110,000 San Diegans worked in restaurants in November before the latest shutdown order took effect.But this week, a San Diego Superior Court judge gave restaurants the green light to serve on-site.El Cruce 241 is still outdoor only, but other restaurants are now serving inside, which had been disallowed even before this latest shutdown.Little Italy's Nolita Hall will reopen for dinner Friday, outdoors and inside with its Plexiglas-separated tables.“Just being back to a full indoor/outdoor dining allows us to get to our full schedule that we had prior to the shutdown, which obviously is going to help everybody pay their bills and have some type of Merry Christmas,” said Dean Trombino, the restaurant’s prep lead.But the opportunity to stay open could be short-lived, with the state already appealing the ruling.“It could happen and hopefully it won't because it's very mentally draining when you have to consider not working again and where your next paycheck is coming from,” Trombino said.For now, however, the doors are open and the tables are waiting. 1821

Each San Diego Police division will have a Designated Online Transaction Space (D.O.T.S.) where carrying out online or private sales and exchanges of goods. The space will be in view of the station’s front door and in a well-lit area. “Online platforms have become an epicenter for scam artists and predators looking to take advantage of innocent people. In a world filled with online transaction uncertainty, D.O.T.S. offers certainty. I am pleased to see my pilot program expand citywide. You truly cannot put a price tag on peace of mind,” stated Councilmember Chris Cate. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County Supervisors are responding to a Team 10 investigation detailing the death of a child in foster care.Tyler Walter died Sept. 22, 2018. The cause of death listed on his autopsy is blunt head trauma.In a claim filed against the County of San Diego, Lisa Walter stated that her son Tyler, "was healthy when he was in my care he was thriving, he needed his mother and placing him with my 19-year-old niece was negligent."A representative for San Diego County Supervisors Greg Cox and Nathan Fletcher, Co-Chairs of the county's Child & Family Strengthening Advisory Board, says they can't comment on the specific situation in question because it represents ongoing litigation.RELATED: Mother claims San Diego County was negligent in death of her child while in Foster CareThe supervisors did release a statement about the child welfare system overall saying, "Any day a child dies is a horrifically sad day. For electric vehicle owners, charging should be delayed if possible until after the emergency shutoffs, SDG&E said.SDG&E offers more safety tips to keep in mind during an outage here.Friday marked the first time since 2011 that California has ordered rolling power outages.According to SDG&E, the Flex Alert until Monday night was issued earlier to warn people to conserve energy, but because there wasn't enough energy conserved the state decided to issue rolling outages.SDG&E added that San Diego County's backcountry and rural areas will not be affected in the foreseeable future because they are high fire risk areas.
