A Delavan, Wisconsin woman thought she was gaining weight, but it turned out to be something much more serious. Tina Ferguson had 30 pounds of tumors in her stomach from a rare type of cancer.“I just thought it was middle age and weight gain," said Ferguson. "You have no idea you have something inside you that is killing you."A trip to the doctor gave her a diagnosis of ovarian cancer that was possibly benign. But when the doctor's opened her up to remove it they found something unexpected."I will never forget them coming in the room and saying, 'This is stage 4. You have appendix cancer,'" Ferguson said.On top that, it had ruptured attaching tumors to other organs and leaving a jelly-like substance called mucin in the lining of her abdomen. There was 30 pounds of it inside of Ferguson pushing on her organs."This is the mucin and tumor that's present inside of the abdomen before Tina had her operation," said Dr. Harvershp Mogal, a cancer surgeon at the Medical College of Wisconsin.It took doctors 12 hours to remove all the tumors and mucin. The rare cancer used to come with a very low survival rate. Ferguson was first told she only had months to live.However, Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin used a new kind of chemotherapy called Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) to wash the tumors out."I basically give the patient a heated chemotherapy wash for about 90 minutes. The chemotherapy is heated to 108 Fahrenheit and what the chemotherapy does it takes care of any minute cancer cells that we can't see," said Mogal.Mogal said Ferguson is now cancer-free, just six months later."It's changed my entire outlook on life. You know almost dying, you can't take anything for granted. Every day is a gift," said Ferguson. 1798

And I feel it's divide and conquers."She said that she's a Democrat, who was visiting Howard Beach from Flushing, Queens, which votes very differently than Howard Beach. Her assessment was the exception, actually.Another voter, who chose not to give his name, said, after being asked if he can feel comfortable interacting with people who voted differently than he did, "I've never been uncomfortable. A Florida man was arrested after police say he left his 19-month-old daughter outside overnight during Hurricane Irma.Angelo Mitchell, 36, of Jasper, Florida, faces a charge of child cruelty related to the Sunday incident.According to Tallahassee's WCTV, the girl's mother called police Monday morning, telling them Mitchell had taken their daughter away the night before and when she saw him again on Monday, the girl wasn't with him.Police searched the area for the girl but were unable to find her. Mitchell allegedly denied ever taking her, telling officers she was probably with a family friend, according to WCTV.At about 11:30 a.m. local time on Monday, someone found the girl in the yard of a house about 500 yards away.Police said the girl's skin had turned purple after she'd spent the entire night outside during the storm being battered by wind and rain. The girl also had scratches and bug bites on her body, according to WCTV. A body found in the water near Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, was identified Tuesday as a San Francisco 49ers fan who went missing during a Nov. 12 Monday Night football game, officials said.The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner positively identified the body found Saturday by duck hunters as Ian Powers, 32, of Spokane, Washington.The body was found in low-tide water approximately one mile north of the Alviso Marina boat ramp. The boat ramp is almost three miles north of the stadium.The cause of death has been ruled as accidental drowning.Powers’ girlfriend told police he left his seat to use the bathroom and never returned.Surveillance video showed him leaving the stadium and walking out of the venue. 733

A former Texas police officer was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday for the shooting death of an unarmed black teen last year in the Dallas suburbs.A jury convicted former Balch Springs Officer Roy Oliver, 38, of murder on Tuesday for killing 15-year-old Jordan Edwards.
