The British Broadcasting Corporation has reportedly opened an investigation into how journalist Martin Bashir secured Princess Diana's 1995 interview with the network after a shocking allegation aired during a two-part documentary on the British network ITV on Monday and Tuesday.According to USA Today, Bashir allegedly asked a graphic designer to create fake bank statements to persuade Princess Diana to talk to him on camera.According to the New York Times, doubts rose about how Bashir obtained the interview, but an earlier BBC internal investigation exonerated him.During the Nov. 20, 1995 interview, which aired on the BBC's program Panorama, the Princess spoke about how she desperately wanted her marriage to Prince Charles to work. The cougar spotted traveling through Brookfield, Wisconsin last week was caught on video on someone's front porch.Surveillance video shared with Scripps station TMJ4 in Milwaukee by Dan and Bridget Guerndt shows the cougar coming out from trees. The cougar goes up the residents' driveway and puts its paws on the front window.The footage was captured at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 18.On Saturday, a Brookfield resident called the Department of Natural Resources when they saw a cougar lying in their backyard, under a pine tree.Though they confirmed the animal was a cougar, officers were unable to neutralize it because of the surrounding homes and thick brush.DNR agents went back to the scene on Sunday morning, but the cougar was gone.The fifty pounds and approximately 1-year-old cougar was tracked, but the trail was lost.Experts believe this cougar was the same one that was spotted in Washington County two weeks ago. 967

The City of Columbus took down a Christopher Columbus statue from in front of City of Hall on Wednesday, removing what Mayor Andrew Ginther called a symbol of “patriarchy, oppression and divisiveness.”Ginther announced the decision to remove the statue on June 18."That does not represent our great city, and we will no longer live in the shadow of our ugly past,” Ginther said. “Now is the right time to replace this statue with artwork that demonstrates our enduring fight to end racism and celebrate the themes of diversity and inclusion.”The statue, which was a gift from the people of Genoa, Italy, in 1955, will be placed in safekeeping at a secure city facility. The city asked the Columbus Art Commission to launch a community-driven process that embraces diversity. This process would determine how to best replace the statue while evaluating other monuments and art installations on their diversity and inclusiveness.The Arts Commission will also help determine the final disposition for the statue, working with the community to determine, in the proper context, if it should be displayed elsewhere to help future generations understand the ongoing conversations about racism and why leaders ultimately decided on its removal.“By replacing the statue, we are removing one more barrier to meaningful and lasting change to end systemic racism,” said Ginther. “Its removal will allow us to remain focused on critical police reforms and increasing equity in housing, health outcomes, education and employment.”This story originally reported by Kaylyn Hlavaty on news5cleveland.com. 1597

"We understand there are concerns regarding the Chef image, and we are committed to evaluating our packaging and will proactively take steps to ensure that we and our brands do not inadvertently contribute to systemic racism."Cream of Wheat's packaging includes an image of a black chef. In early advertisements, copy refers to the chef as "Rastus" — a term now considered a slur. The name refers to a minstrel show caricature of a stereotypically happy black man.Cream of Wheat follows in the footsteps of Aunt Jemima pancake mix, which announced Wednesday that it would drop its mascot (also rooted in minstrel show tropes) and change its name.
