COLTON, Calif. (KGTV) - At least five people died Friday afternoon in a fiery crash on Interstate 10 in the San Bernardino County community of Rialto, KABC reported.The California Highway Patrol indicated at least three vehicles and two trucks were involved in the crash that left wreckage on both sides of the freeway at Riverside Ave. about 1 p.m.A big rig heading west veered toward the median, crashed through the center divider and burst into flames, KTLA reported. The truck kept moving across eastbound lanes, striking several vehicles.Five people were killed. The truck driver received only minor injuries and another driver was able to walk away from the crash.After a nearly 16-hour shutdown of the highway, all lanes were reopened Saturday morning, KABC said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.Check traffic HERE.  865

Counterfeit items are being sold by third-party vendors on the top ecommerce sites, according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office. The GAO released a study Tuesday showing that even top online merchants such as Amazon and Walmart are subject to having counterfeit items posted on their sites. In some cases, the counterfeits can be harmful, the GAO reported.  The GAO purchased 47 items — a mixture of shoes, travel mugs, cosmetics and phone chargers. The items were bought from third-party sellers on Walmart, eBay, Amazon, Sears Marketplace and Newegg. Of the 47 items, 20 were counterfeit, including all 13 of the Urban Decay cosmetics purchased. "From travel mugs to cosmetics, counterfeit goods harm the U.S. economy and can pose a threat to consumers," the GAO reported.  829

From a fortified facility, they have the power to launch what's known as a kill vehicle. Propelled into space by a rocket, the kill vehicle can destroy a warhead above the earth.The mission would be administered by members of the 100th Missile Defense Brigade."The threat we're dealing with is very real," said Colonel Kevin Kick, who is the commander of the 300-person team. "We say we are the 300 defending the 300 million."From their hub in Colorado, the interceptors can be launched from bases in Alaska and California, obliterating a nuclear warhead in a matter of minutes.The U.S. military allowed Denver7 television station, owned by the E.W. Scripps Company, to capture an exercise of a simulated attack on Los Angeles. Customers at Starbucks will have new ways to pay for their drinks and food while still earning stars in their rewards program.The changes to the Starbucks Rewards loyalty program begin Tuesday, September 15.Customers have complained for years about the need to reload their Starbucks card in order to spend money at the coffee giant and earn loyalty stars. In order for customers to earn stars in their loyalty program, customers had to use a Starbucks card or gift card to pay. This forced regular customers to constantly reload their card to ensure there was enough money for their purchases.Starting Tuesday, alternative ways to pay will be allowed and still allow members to earn stars for purchases. Alternative methods include debit/credit cards, cash, and select mobile wallets.However, there’s a catch.Customers paying with their Starbucks card or gift card will earn two loyalty stars per spent, and those paying with alternative methods will earn one star per spent. 990

CONNEAUT, Ohio — Conneaut Councilman Phillip Garcia, 63, was arrested and taken to the Ashtabula County Jail in Ohio on Tuesday, according to employees at the sheriff's department.Court documents revealed that Garcia is being held on 26 felony charges.The 26-count indictment includes five counts of rape, four counts of corruption of a minor and two counts of sexual conduct with a minor. He was also indicted on 15 felony counts of compelling prostitution.Garcia, 63, the councilman for Ward 2 in Conneaut, serves as a member on the Parks and Recreation committee, Economic Development Committee and Public Service Department/Cemeteries committee. Ashtabula County Sheriff Bill Johnson said they've been investigating Garcia for two to three months. They launched the investigation into Garcia, who owns Phil's Catering after an employee came forward in June.The charges relate to five juveniles between the age of 13 and 17, according to the release.  The alleged sexual assaults took place between 1997 and 2005.Four of the alleged victims were employees of Garcia's catering business."We do have concerns that there could be additional victims who have not yet been identified, and we urge anyone with information pertinent to the investigation to come forward," said Attorney General DeWine.  1356
