The man held up the US Bank inside the Albertson’s grocery store (2955 Alpine Blvd.) on Tuesday about 4 p.m., deputies said. Investigators said the man approached the teller and presented a demand note. He took cash and ran away. Surveillance cameras show the man, who deputies said is Hispanic and in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing a black shirt, black “LA” hat, and jeans. He stood about 5 feet 5 inches tall, deputies said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 723

ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) -- As firefighters work towards 100% containment in the Valley Fire, business owners are cleaning up the damage left behind by the flames. Alpine Dog Ranch is a vacation ranch for dogs to say while their owners are away. When the Valley Fire started, the ranch's owner, Thomas MacKinnon, was taking care of nine dogs, including his own. He quickly rushed to get them all into a van and tried to get out, but MacKinnon says they were trapped by flames. He and several neighbors took refuge in an open field until the flames passed. Firefighters and a 747 Supertanker saved all of the structures. No one was hurt. The fire did burn a lot of the greenery on the ranch and now MacKinnon is cleaning up; repairing fencing, the sprinkler system and covering burned patches with woodchips. MacKinnon says the fire was an added challenge on top of a difficult year. Like many businesses, the Alpine Dog Ranch has been struggling. With people not going on vacation and needing a place to leave their dogs, business has been slow. MacKinnon's friends set up a Go Fund Me page to help with the ranch's repairs. ABSARD, Iran (AP) — State television says an Iranian scientist was killed in a targeted attack killed in Absard, a small city just east of the capital, Tehran. State TV says the attack on the scientist, named Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, saw gunmen use explosives and machine gun fire. He was attacked by "armed terrorist elements," according to state TV, and died at a local hospital after first responders couldn't revive him.Israel has alleged the man led the Islamic Republic’s military nuclear program until its disbanding in the early 2000s.Iran’s foreign minister is alleging the killing of Fakhrizadeh has “serious indications” of an Israeli role. Mohammad Javad Zarif made the statement Friday on Twitter.“Terrorists murdered an eminent Iranian scientist today. This cowardice—with serious indications of Israeli role—shows desperate warmongering of perpetrators,” Zarif wrote. "Iran calls on int'l community—and especially EU—to end their shameful double standards & condemn this act of state terror."Israel declined to immediately comment on the killing of Fakhrizadeh, who Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once called out in a news conference saying: “Remember that name.”Israel has long been suspected of carrying out a series of targeted killings of Iranian nuclear scientists nearly a decade ago. 1323
