(KGTV) - TripAdvisor confirmed this month its willingness to publish travel reviews which include reports of crimes such as rape, robbery, theft or assault.A news release referenced a USA Today network article regarding a woman's online report that she had been sexually assaulted at the Iberostar Paraiso hotel near Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The article indicated the woman's review was removed from the TripAdvisor website.TripAdvisor said the woman's forum post was removed seven years ago when the company had a policy requiring content to use family-friendly language. Site officials said the policy changed to allow more descriptive reviews, including crime.“We believe any first-hand experience should be posted to our site as a means to communicate to other consumers looking for information on where they should travel,” TripAdvisor posted on its site.TripAdvisor said it is creating a badge notification to apply to businesses to alert consumers of health and safety or discrimination issues at that business reported on within the media or other credible sources of information.  1123

(KGTV) -- Fire crews are responding after a bush fire broke out in Solana Beach Thursday night. According to crews, the blaze started near Interstate 5 south near Lomas Santa Fe. Currently, the blaze has burned less than an acre and has a slow rate of spread. Approximately five homes were threatened by the blaze. (KGTV) - The California Department of Motor Vehicles announced plans Monday to close for half a day in July to conduct employee customer service training. Operation Excellence: DMV Training will “equip employees with the tools they need to handle an unprecedented volume of REAL ID applications,” said DMV officials. Californians will be required to show a REAL ID-compliant license or identification card, or passport, to fly in the U.S. starting Oct. 1, 2020. RELATED: If you don't have a star on your license, flying will become more difficult for you in 2020“The unprecedented complexity of the REAL ID requirements is what led to the idea that we needed to take the extraordinary step of closing DMV offices for a short time to make sure all employees have consistent information in order to complete the transactions successfully,” said Government Operations Agency Secretary Marybel Batjer, who is leading the DMV Strike Team. “It is a complicated transaction and we want customers to be well prepared in order to receive their REAL ID efficiently.” Training sessions for more than 5,000 workers will take place at 183 DMV field offices, commercial drive test centers, and industry business centers statewide. “Our employees are at the heart of every transaction we perform,” said Kathleen Webb, DMV acting director. “With this commitment to training, we can ensure they have the proper tools, knowledge, and experience to provide excellent customer service to the people of California.” RELATED: California's REAL ID requirements now accepted by government“Field offices need to be prepared for at least a doubling of customer volume as the enforcement date approaches,” said DMV officials. A baby has died after being snatched from his mother's lap by a monkey in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.Neighbors rushed to help after hearing the mother's screams on Monday afternoon in a village near Agra city, according to Agra Police Assistant Superintendent Abhishek, who goes only by his first name.The baby was just 12 days old."They threw stones at the monkey to force it to drop the baby but by the time he abandoned it, he had already attacked him severely on the face," Abhishek told CNN.The child's body was recovered from the terrace of an adjacent house.Police said his injuries indicate he was bitten on the face.Monkey attacks are common in India, especially in the country's capital New Delhi.In Central Delhi, government offices are surrounded by dozens of monkeys swinging from the trees or lounging in the sun on the sidewalk.According to the Delhi government, 268 cases of monkey bites were registered in the city in 2016.In 2018, the Indian government said it had approved a pilot project for immune-contraception to control the population of wild animals including monkeys in the city. 1129
