SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two people were arrested on suspicion of vandalizing a school in the College East area late Thursday night.At around 11 p.m., San Diego police were called to Harriet Tubman School on 6880 Mohawk St. in response to two people seen on the campus.When officers arrived, the two people ran away. Following a brief foot chase, police caught the pair and took them into custody.Police said officers discovered a classroom with a window that was smashed, a vandalized TV screen inside a room and graffiti.Officers also found fireworks they believe the two people planned to set off. 603

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Someone sliced through the window of an Ocean Beach resident's vehicle but thankfully couldn't get it to start.Now he's worried about who they might hit next. "So we look out for each other so the idea that someone would come overnight steps from where I sleep, steps from where my kids sleep, you know and try to steal your car, it's angering," David Levine said.An anger that probably won't go away until Levine gets the window on his jeep fixed. "I put tape over it already but there are two big slices here and then a slice here," Levine said.Someone sliced into his 1999 Jeep Wrangler, but Levine knows it could've been much worse."There's bent metal. It looks like they tried to take a screwdriver to turn it over," Levine said. "So I got lucky." Levine is lucky because he still has his Jeep. His neighbor doesn't.  904

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- While the San Diego Padres lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday night in Game 1 of the National League Division Series, fans were thankful to be able to participate in the action alongside other San Diegans.While much of the Friar Faithful couldn’t make it to Texas to cheer on the Padres, the playoff excitement was still felt downtown, and for some, that was enough.“Unfortunately, you can’t watch it live, but to be surrounded with a group of people that are all watching it and all really excited, it’s pretty magical,” said Andrea Durkee, a resident of downtown and Padres fan. “I think we all needed something just happy and exciting and to look forward to, and this is absolutely the best thing we could have downtown.”Some fans watched the first game in the best-of-five series from Petco Park’s Tailgate Lot, which was transformed into a drive-in style viewing party.“I have season tickets actually, and we weren’t able to go this year, which is a huge bummer, but we’ve made the best out of it,” said Catie Vance. “We’re excited that we got to do this, at least.”Spectators on the other side were just as excited.“Grew up in LA, my grandfather had season tickets, I’ve probably seen 100 Dodger games at Dodger stadium I haven’t seen them win the world series yet, I’d love to see that, but I guess if someone has to go and the Padres do go, there’s worse things that can happen in life,” said Michael Martin, a Dodger’s fan.Facial coverings were required for all fans outside of their vehicles, and vehicles were spaced 20 feet apart to encourage social distancing. 1606

The first two will open in Chula Vista and San Diego on Thursday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - With summer break approaching, students and parents at Cathedral Catholic High School are pushing to be heard by the school's administration. This comes a week after school leaders decided the girls will not be allowed to wear skirts next year. Students, along with their parents, have been protesting since Monday. Parents tell 10News the push is much more than just the students being allowed to wear skirts. "We just want an opportunity to be heard," says parent Michelle Adams. "The girls would like to wear skirts. It's been a tradition here at the school for forever."It's been one week since the students and parents found out about the changes to next year's dress code. The girls will only be allowed to wear pants, capri pants, and Bermuda shorts. Parents say they wish the school would have included them before making the decision. "It's not so much about the skirts but about the process and the fact that this mandate was just dropped down on high without really consulting," says parent Matthew Boyd. "Our principals are both men," says 10th grade student Samantha Conant. "They don't understand. It's so unfair how they handled the whole thing."Since the memo went out last Friday, parents say the administration has been inaccessible. 10News reached out to the Catholic Diocese about the changes in the dress code for next year. We are still waiting on a response. Summer break is just three days away. Parents say they are still working to meet with the Catholic Diocese and the school's administration on the issue. 1562
