SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego traffic is costing local commuters thousands per year, according to a new report. The Urban Mobility Report compiled by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute takes a look at major cities around the U.S. and just how much time people waste every year stuck in traffic.According to the report, San Diegans spend an average of 64 hours a year stuck in traffic. All that waiting really adds up. The report says those same commuters spend ,440 in congestion cost a year. To come up with those numbers, the report looked at the value of the time wasted, estimated at .29 per hour for the average commuter and .94 per hour of truck time. The report was also compiled using average fuel cost – which is nearly a dollar more per gallon in the state of California. Los Angeles topped the list for most time wasted in traffic at 119 hours per year followed by San Francisco at 103 hours and Washington D.C. at 102 hours. 957

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Several San Diego museums are offering free admission to military families this year. According to the National Endowment for the Arts, the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum, San Diego History Center, San Diego Museum of Art and Visions Art Museum will all be offering free admission this year. The program has been offering free admission to military members and their families since 2018. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego is being allowed to reopen, but certain parts of the park will have to remain closed, a San Diego County spokesman said.A county spokesman told ABC 10News that the park is being allowed to reopen under California’s guidance for zoos.SeaWorld San Diego will be able to open its outdoor areas of the park, but indoor areas -- such as its aquariums -- and rides will not be open to guests under the specific zoo guidance.Under the zoo guidance, the park will have to post a Safe Reopening Plan like other businesses.It remains unknown when the park will officially reopen; SeaWorld San Diego officials did not immediately respond to ABC 10News’ request for comment.The park has been closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. The park's website states that for season passholders, tickets will be extended as long as the closure lasted.The company’s most recent earnings report revealed troubling numbers from the second quarter and first six months of 2020, including revenue down 96 percent compared to the same time last year.Parents around San Diego said the news is a welcome sign after a summer of closures. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's first nonstop flights to Montreal will begin in summer of 2020, according to Canadian airline Air Transat.The airline announced Tuesday it will launch direct flights between Montreal, Quebec, and San Diego next summer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego’s violent crime rate fell in 2018 while the city’s overall crime rate rose. According to an early report from the Brennan Center for Justice, San Diego’s violent crime rate fell by 0.7 percent. Overall, however, crime is up. San Diego’s crime rate rose by 3.4 percent from 2017 to 2018. RELATED: City turns to community leaders to reduce crimeThe report looked at the Nation’s 30 largest cities. While San Diego’s overall crime rate was up, most other large cities saw a major reduction in crime. New York City saw a nearly 2 percent decrease in crime while Los Angeles saw a 3.3 percent reduction. Meanwhile, Chicago, a city known for its crime, saw a 9.5 percent increase in crime. In contrast, San Francisco saw a 9 percent decrease in crime.
