SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Humane Society launched an investigation into possible animal neglect Monday.  The investigation is focused on the former Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club.The golf course shut down in July.A spokesman with the Humane Society says someone reported that the declining state of one of the ponds on the course was endangering koi and other wildlife.Homeowners living near the course say they often smell a foul stench coming from the pond.The Humane Society says they’ve they’ve reached out to the owner of the country club and golf course.The Humane Society sent 10News a statement that says in part:"Because it is an open investigation, we cannot discuss details, but we take reports like this very seriously. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The woman shot in the face with a bean bag round during a protest outside of La Mesa Police Department last month has been released from the hospital.Leslie Furcron, 59, was released from the hospital Tuesday, after an LMPD officer fired a bean bag round into a crowd of protesters on May 30, hitting Furcron in the forehead.She was hospitalized and placed in a medically induced coma with a breathing tube.RELATED: La Mesa protestor shot in the forehead by a police bean bag is recovering in the ICULa Mesa woman hospitalized following protests, family saysFurcron was among the thousands of people in front of the police department, where a demonstration against police violence started peacefully later turned to chaos and officers began to deploy tear gas and bean bag rounds.LMPD Chief Walt Vaquez said last week that the incident was under investigation and the officer involved had been identified.Furcron and her attorney, Dante Pride, are set to speak with the media during a press conference on Wednesday at La Mesa City Hall.Pride told 10News that he believes a third party should be investigating the case and the officer who fired the bean bag should face criminal charges if appropriate. "There should never be a point in time where an officer should shoot a metal projectile bean bag from an elevated position down on a crowd. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three people are in custody following a chase through North Park and University Heights Monday evening. The chase started around 5:30 p.m. at an unknown location after police tried to make contact with the suspects following a possible hit-and-run in a stolen vehicle. Mid-chase, officers called off the pursuit after it was determined the suspect was traveling too fast. At one point during the chase, two of the suspects could be seen jumping out of the vehicle near Florida Street and Polk Avenue. A third suspect was detained a short time later. Video from Sky10 shows at least one suspect leaping out of the car on the 3000 block of Palm Street before leaping into brush in a nearby canyon. 725

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Thousands of people visited Seaport Village Saturday to watch outdoor entertainers at the 14th Annual Busker Fest 2020. As the fear of coronavirus spreads, attendees of the festival seemed unbothered by it.Gather around! Let your eyes and ears feast on the marvels of jugglers, daredevils, and aerialists."Buskers have always been a big part of our history down at Seaport Village," Scott Andrews, Marketing Director of Seaport Village, said. Coming to the festival has become a seven-year tradition for Shannon Steward and her nine-year-old son, Aiden. "I like supporting the street performers!" Stewart said. "I never even knew what a busker was until I found out about this festival."New this year: Busker University. It's a special place where kids can learn about art and busking skills. One of the most popular booths is the slime station. Children can make slime by mixing Borax, water, and glue. After playing at the slime station, the kids are encouraged to wash their hands by using either baby wipes or hand sanitizer.Ahead of the event, San Diego Port Authority added hand-washing stations all along the Embarcadero, to quell growing fears of the coronavirus. Regardless, Stewart said good hygiene is something she always preaches to her family. "We are making sure we are washing our hands, not touching too many things, but obviously, we are kind of diving into the slime and no big deal!" Stewart said. She said she is not going to let fear and hysteria ruin their fun."It's at the forefront of our minds, but it's not changing too much of what we are doing right now," Stewart said. "Now, that may change in a couple of weeks.
