The FCC reportedly fielded nearly 1,300 complaints from viewers of the Super Bowl Halftime Show, many of whom said that the performances of Shakira and Jennifer Lopez was too risque for national television. The 1,300 complainants were just a small fraction of the nearly 100 million viewers that watched the Super Bowl. The complaints were brought to light this week thanks to an open records requested WFAA obtained. WFAA noted that the exact total of complaints were 1,312, but some appeared to be duplicates. Complaints came from 49 of the 50 states. According to a copy of the complaints obtained by WFAA, hundreds of complainants referred to the show as "porn" or "pornography." The Federal Aviation Administration is warning airlines to check their Boeing airplanes for an issue that could be a problem with the wings.The FAA says faulty parts are at risk of cracking and premature failure. Airlines will have 10 days to remove or replace the parts.The issue is not enough to cause a plane to crash, the FAA says, but it could lead to in-flight damage.“ This is something where you could have an issue and basically when the plane lands mechanics would have to work on it, the plane would come out of service, maybe you'd have cancellations, some delays but not something that could bring down an aircraft,” said Seth Kaplan, aviation analyst.More than 300 Boeing airplanes are impacted — 65 of those are in the United States. The body of Nevaeh Adams, a 5-year-old South Carolina girl who went missing in August, was found on Friday, the Sumter Police Department announced on Tuesday. Police used DNA to confirm the body found was Nevaeh's. Nevaeh's mother, Sharee Bradley, was also killed. Bradley's body was found on Aug. 5 in her apartment by a family member.The suspect, Daunte Johnson, has admitted to killing Bradley and her daughter, police say. Johnson told police that he put Nevaeh's body in a dumpster. Approximately 400 individuals from more than 40 agencies searched about 4 million pounds of material, Sumter Police said. TEXAS CITY, Texas – About 45 minutes southeast of Houston, the Texas City Independent School District (TCISD) takes school security to a different level than most districts across America."We do think we're the school of 2030," said Mike Matranga.Texas City is just 20 minutes from Santa Fe High School where, two years ago, a gunman killed 10 people “You don’t hire a plumber to fix an IT problem," Matranga said. "You don't hire someone who is an educator to fix real world, mass violence problems." Texas City hired Matranga to overhaul school safety and gave him .5 million to do it.Mantranga is a 12-year Secret Service veteran who's been to dozens of countries and war zones."I would say the pressure is equal if not greater," Mantranga said of his role in Texas City. Classroom doors in schools now have reinforced glass and special locks.The district has hundreds of cameras in its 14 schools. At any point in time, around two-dozen can have facial recognition capabilities. Matranga's security team estimates the software is accurate about seven out of 10 times there is an alert.That's not the only software TCISD has invested in.Teachers have an app to alert the security team of a problem. The entire district can be locked down with a press of a button. Students can report tips online. The district has also invested in software that searches social media and the dark web. The district has also created behavioral profiles of each school. The profiles track issues like the amount of in-school and out-of-school suspensions to give the district a better idea of which students might be at risk. Matranga has faced criticism for his methods. There have been concerns the enhanced security could racially profile, violate privacy, or mis-identify students. “People need to stop being so sensitive," Matranga said. "Facts and data are facts and data. I don’t make them up. We take it and build from it and we identify kids at risk.”"I think that our society has gotten to a point where we are too politically correct where people are getting hurt," he said.
