VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) ¡ª A Vista bike shop owner is fed up after his shop was broken into for the third time in six months.Early Sunday morning, Jesse McCormack got a call from his security company. The person on the phone notified him that thieves had gotten into his shop, 211 Bikes, again.¡°I woke up in an immediate panic,¡± McCormack said.This month, he was supposed to be celebrating his one year anniversary at the location. Instead, he is filing yet another police report.The surveillance video shows a man wearing a hoodie and shorts ransacking the shop, snipping cable locks, and running out.The man captured on the security video took a 2017 MASI Volare worth ,199, a MASI Vivo Uno worth ,999, a Haro Shredder 12" worth 0, a rack of sunglasses worth ,000, and several important files.The first time 211 Bikes was the target of a crime was last October, just six months after opening. No one was arrested for the crime. ¡°It was a wake-up call,¡± McCormack recalled.The second break-in was on December 10, 2017. Five rare road bikes, along with other equipment, were stolen. ¡°There¡¯s some nights that I don¡¯t really want to go home,¡± McCormack sighed. ¡°I just feel like I need to stay the night here, and just keep an eye on things.¡±In the last six months, McCormack has lost at least ,000. He and his landlord have put up new security cameras, LED lights, locked up the bikes, even changed the dead bolts.When one of the stolen bikes was listed on online sale app, he even worked with detectives to arrest the seller. But the thefts continued.McCormack recently got a call from another bike shop owner. They sent McCormack a photo of a man, riding a rare and expensive road bike in San Marcos ¡ªThe exact one that was stolen from his shop in December.He immediately noticed that the leg tattoo on this rider was very similar, if not a match, to the tattoos on the man captured on Sunday morning¡¯s surveillance video.¡°He matches the description I have of the prior incident,¡± McCormack said.This could be a break, he said, hoping that somebody recognizes the man, and turns him into the San Diego County Sheriff¡¯s Department.¡°Action needs to be taken,¡± McCormack said. ¡°We need to have the ability to feel safe, in order to conduct business, especially as a small and vulnerable business owner, who is operating on a shoe string budget."McCormack is now working with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, asking for increased patrols in the area.He thought about changing locations. (KGTV) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.6 rumbled Southern California Sunday morning.According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake happened before 7:20 a.m. southwest of Warner Springs.The quake was originally reported as a 3.8 magnitude, but was later downgraded to a 3.6, the USGS reports.People throughout the county immediately took to social media to report the event. "Heard it more than I felt it," one Facebook user said. "Very strong I feel it around 7:20," another added. Other residents in Santee, Spring Valley, San Marcos, and Poway reported the shaking. 624

VISTA, Calif., (KGTV) ¡ª The man accused of killing his girlfriend in Cardiff pleaded not guilty Wednesday at his arraignment.Henry Cowen, 41, stood stoically inside the defendant's box, watching Deputy District Attorney Marnie Layon accuse him of murdering 43-year-old Sabrina Lukosky. Friends at the courthouse said Lukosky was a beloved butterfly breeder, who was "so lovely."The investigation began when Lukosky's mother requested a welfare check in early October, after not hearing from her daughter for several days. Officers came to the gray flat the couple shared on Cowen's mother's property in Cardiff. They saw Lukosky's car but noticed a foul smell coming from the residence. A few days later, they executed a search warrant and found Lukosky's dead body and signs of a violent struggle inside the bedroom. "There was a broken stick, a bottle that had been broken, some amount of blood, and the victim had a 1.5-inch vertical gash to her forehead," Layon said. But that was not what killed her. The Medical Examiner said Lukosky died of strangulation and blunt force trauma. Prosecutors believe Cowen then left North County, first to got to Los Angeles. Then they said he took a Lyft to Riverside County, where he met with his children's mother. Investigators believe it was then that Cowen took steps to escape the country."That woman and her father, at his request, took him to the Israeli Consulate there, so that he could make arrangements to obtain a visa to get out of the country to move to Israel," Layon said. "They learned when they were going through the process, that would take six to eight months, and an expression was then made that the preference would be to go to New York."But before he could leave, officers with the Fugitive Task Force arrested Cowen in Riverside County on Oct. 11. He remains in custody with no bail.Cowen has an extensive violent criminal record, including assaulting an ex-girlfriend in California and kidnapping and torturing a man in Washington State. Because of that, if convicted, Cowen faces a maximum sentence of 55 years to life in prison. 2106

Volkswagen has been fined another €800 million (6 million) over its diesel emissions scandal, this time because of failings at its Audi subsidiary.Volkswagen said Tuesday it accepted the fine imposed by German prosecutors, waving its right to appeal. It said the penalty would hit earnings this year."As a negative special item, [it will] reduce the group earnings for fiscal year 2018 accordingly," it said in a statement.The penalty by Munich prosecutors is just the latest consequence of the scandal that emerged in 2015 and initially wiped out billions off the company's value.Volkswagen admitted cheating on clean air rules with software that made emissions look less toxic than they actually were.The fine concludes the Munich prosecutors' investigation into the company. However, probes into executives, including Audi's former CEO Rupert Stadler, continue, the prosecutors said.The €800 million fine comprises a €5 million penalty for administrative offenses, the maximum allowed under German law.On top of that, prosecutors ordered Volkswagen to repay €795 million they said the company made from the cheating. The prosecutors said this included profits from the sales of affected vehicles.In this case, the diesel emissions cheating affected nearly 5 million cars sold by the Volkswagen group in Europe and the United States, prosecutors said.
