"We anticipate this being a two-week closure, but will adapt our plan as new guidance is received," the organization said. SDCE offers training certificates in healthcare, welding, information technology, cybersecurity, culinary arts, clothing, automotives, and more.For Richard Sanchez, who lost his job during the pandemic, it's a chance to start over after a layoff."I'm already 38 years old," Sanchez said. "To have this opportunity helps people out to get a new job and change your career."According to a recent report by SANDAG, around 460,000 people in San Diego have lost their jobs since March 7. The report says unemployment could be as high as 30%.Dr. Cortez said people who are looking for a job should look into continuing education first."It's incumbent on us to make sure that students who are coming through our program are developing the skills necessary to be successful in these career pathways," he said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego health officials are working with UCSD to notify people who may have been exposed to tuberculosis at the school’s La Jolla campus.According to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency, the period of potential exposure was between January 25 through May 15. Those who are known to have been exposed were notified.“Testing is recommended for all those exposed to assure they are not infected, since they may not have symptoms,” said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. "For anyone infected, early diagnosis and prompt treatment can prevent disease.”Tuberculosis is transmitted from person to person through indoor air during prolonged contact. Most people who are exposed do not become infected.Symptoms of TB include persistent cough, fever, night sweats and unexpected weight loss.No-cost testing will be provided those identified starting May 30 at the campus Student Health Center on Library Walk.The number of annual cases of TB has decreased since the early 90s and has stabilized in recent years. So far in 2018, 64 cases have been reported. 1124

  

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are investigating reports of a gunfight in the city's Chollas Creek neighborhood.Police officers responded to reports of two people, described as two black males, shooting at each other in the 5000 block of Auburn Drive shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday.The shooting occurred on a residential street just blocks from two elementary schools: John Marshall Elementary School and The Waldorf School of San Diego.No injuries have been reported. Police have not released any information on the suspects as of yet. 571
