You may have to pay for quarantine accommodations like a hotel or Airbnb if your new apartment or home is not move-in ready, she says.If you are receiving unemployment benefits, check the rules on how your benefits carry forward in your new location and what the taxes are if it is a new state, Wilczynski says. You can typically find this information on your state’s Department of Labor website, she says.If you are unemployed or your income has dropped as a result of the pandemic, you can also check whether you qualify for moving assistance by calling 211.You might not be able to really get to know your new place until you’re living there, so prepare yourself (and your wallet) for surprises like leaky faucets or broken appliances. And if you can see the new accommodations in person, you may be required to sign a waiver, wear a mask and avoid touching anything while in the house.Stay safe during the moveHow to move safely depends on whether you are doing it yourself or using movers. Current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that the main way the coronavirus spreads is through respiratory droplets, says Lindsay Slowiczek, pharmacist and drug content integrity manager at Healthline.com. That’s why wearing a mask and staying away from people is important to slow the spread of the virus, she says. Sanitizing surfaces is also an extra precaution worth taking.Moving yourselfIf you’re renting a moving truck, companies like U-Haul offer contactless pickup and drop-off options. Slowiczek suggests sanitizing the door handles, steering wheel, radio and the metal tongue on the seatbelt in the rental van.Using moversBefore picking a moving company, check its website or call and ask about its safety practices in response to the pandemic, Slowiczek says. Ask whether the movers wear masks and gloves during the move.On moving day, she suggests being prepared with a plan to limit interaction with movers and maintain social distancing. This includes packing as many things as you can yourself, or consider using a self-pack moving container as Slowiczek did for her own recent move.If the movers will pack the truck, create a schedule for the movers. For example, ask them to start with a particular room as you stay in another. This is also particularly useful if you live with family members who are vulnerable or immunocompromised, she says. Try to limit their involvement with the move as much as possible.“Plan out the way [the movers] are going to move through the house,” says Slowiczek. “If possible, move all of [your boxes] to one area in your home so they don’t have to come throughout your house as much.”Keep hand sanitizer or soap handy during the move so that you and the movers can use it periodically, she says. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee will soon have one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the nation.Just after midnight Friday morning, state lawmakers passed a fetal heartbeat bill. The law was one that Gov. Bill Lee said was one of his priorities for the current legislative session, adding that he believes that "every human life is precious, and we have a responsibility to protect it."The bill would ban abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected, typically about six weeks into pregnancy. It's not uncommon for a fetal heartbeat to occur before a woman knows she is pregnant.The bill would also require mothers to get an ultrasound before an abortion and would forbid an abortion when the doctor is aware the decision is motivated by race, sex, health or disability."It does that in a way that we believe is legally defensible," Rep. William Lamberth, R-Portland, said. "Every time we have passed a measure that was in favor of a life in the womb, it has been challenged in the courts. This bill is in such solid legal footing. We feel good about the fact that it could save millions of lives. And those lives are their most vulnerable because they are still in their mother's womb."The passing of the bill shocked Democrats and anti-abortion activists because they had been told for weeks that the Senate would not take up the bill."The fetal heartbeat bill, which is one of the most extreme, anti-choice bills passed in the United States, was used as a trade-off by the House Republicans to get some budget concessions," Rep. Mike Stewart, D-Davidson County said. "I just don't think serious legislation like that should be used as a budget bargaining chip.""Lack of access to abortion care particularly harms those struggling financially and those who already face significant barriers to health care, including people of color, people with limited incomes, rural people, and young people," the American Civil Liberties Union said in a statement. "Politicians should not be deciding what is best for women and certainly not making reproductive health care decisions for them. Instead, Felton allegedly misappropriated the funds raised in the initial coin offerings, the SEC said.Felton is facing charges of violating registration, anti-fraud, and anti-manipulation provisions of the federal securities laws.T.I. was allegedly involved in promoting Felton’s scheme. The SEC said that T.I., and his social media manager William Sparks, Jr., offered FLiK tokens on T.I.’s social media accounts.“The federal securities laws provide the same protections to investors in digital asset securities as they do to investors in more traditional forms of securities,” said Carolyn M. MOAB, Utah — After a suddenly world-famous "monolith" of unknown origin was removed by an unknown person or group late Friday night, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) said there was a sharp increase in visitors to the area — many of whom failed to follow fundamental rules of recreating on public land.The installation itself, the BLM pointed out, was illegal — although the agency added that for some, it was "a welcome distraction from the 2020 news cycle."The BLM added that it did not remove the monolith or call for its removal and was in the midst of investigating where it came from when it vanished.The agency was concerned that the area was not "developed for heavy visitation," yet throngs of people showed up, mostly during Thanksgiving week.The agency said that many visitors parked their vehicles on vegetation and drove off of designated roads and trails, both of which are illegal.
