SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Health officials in San Diego County reported 269 new COVID-19 infections Sunday, bringing the total to 54,583 since mid-February, and two new deaths, bringing the overall fatality total to 870.The two deaths were men reported to have died earlier this month. They ranged in age from late 60s to early 70s, according to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.Of the 10,819 new tests reported, 2% returned positive. The 14-day rolling average percentage of positive cases is 2.7%. And 889 -- or 1.6% -- of all cases and 23.1% of hospitalized cases had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.Meanwhile, all students at San Diego State University remained under a stay-at-home advisory announced Thursday. Michael Ortiz, 31, is accused in the Nov. 7 killing of 25-year-old Eziquio Ruiz-Saucedo of National City. Ortiz faces 50 years to life in state prison if convicted of murder and an allegation of discharging a firearm in the killing.Police received reports just after 9 that night of gunshots fired in the parking lot of a shopping center at 300 Euclid Avenue, SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said. According to the lieutenant, the men were involved in a physical fight and at some point, a handgun was brandished and both men were shot.At Ortiz's arraignment, Deputy District Attorney Jeff Dort alleged that Ortiz brought a gun to ``what was probably going to be a fistfight.'' The prosecutor said Ortiz was shot with the same gun used to shoot the victim, but did not elaborate on how that occurred.Ruiz-Saucedo died at the scene, and Ortiz was hospitalized with non- life-threatening injuries, police said.Ortiz was being held on million bail and his next court date is a Jan. 12 status conference. 1145

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Countywide sales of previously owned single-family homes and attached properties both fell from September to October while prices increased, according to data released Thursday by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors.Sales of single-family homes fell 4.9% from 1,862 in September to 1,771 in October while attached-property sales fell 2% from 943 in September to 924 last month. Sold listings of both property types have fallen for four consecutive months, according to the GSDAR.Median sale prices of single-family homes rose 3.1% from 5,000 in September to 5,000 in October while attached property prices increased 2.4% from 9,000 in September to 9,000 last month.
