VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Californians are getting ready for a new set of businesses to reopen after June 12, 2020. Last Friday, the state released specific COVID-19 guidelines for several industries, including gyms, bars, and hotels. Vista Fitness owner Brian Belasco is setting up cones in his parking lot to create social distancing spots for his patrons. He's doing this well in advance of the state's gym reopenings on June 12."Being able to reopen means the world to us," Belasco said. Last Friday, Gov. Gavin Newsom released specific guidelines for the next group of industries allowed to reopen with modifications, no sooner than June 12, 2020. They include gyms, schools, film production, professional sports, bars and wineries, hotels, cardrooms, family entertainment, museums, and zoos. Since mid-March, Belasco said his trainers have been successfully teaching online workout classes. "We just finished a virtual challenge," Belasco said. "We had members losing up to 30 pounds in 28 days."But he said he is ready to see his members in person. "It's the camaraderie, especially times like right now, bringing people together that is our specialty," Belasco said. VISTA (CNS) - A homeless man accused of fatally stabbing a fellow transient outside an Escondido fast-food restaurant was ordered today to stand trial on a murder charge.John Christopher Burns, 48, is accused of stabbing Jose De Jesus Martinez in the neck shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 27, outside the Burger King on West Valley Parkway.According to preliminary hearing testimony, witnesses said Burns made statements indicating he believed the 32-year-old victim was trying to steal his bicycle, which had been left outside the restaurant.Martinez was taken to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Escondido Police Department.Burns was arrested by San Diego County sheriff's deputies at the Pala Casino one day after Martinez's death.He's due back in court Sept. 2 for a Superior Court arraignment. 844

VISTA (CNS) - A man who fired a BB gun at an Oceanside business that had put up a sign supporting the Black Lives Matter movement pleaded guilty today to charges of violating civil rights by damaging property and vandalism.Steve Soto, 23, of Carlsbad, is slated to be sentenced Sept. 28 to one year in county jail stemming from the June 4 shooting that shattered a window at Bliss Tea & Treats.Oceanside police Sgt. John McKean said Soto drove by the business, then fired a BB gun out the window of his vehicle.The business had a sign in the window at the time that read: "Black owned, we stand with you," McKean said.The sergeant said surveillance video helped detectives identify the vehicle used in the crime, leading to Soto's arrest on July 15.He also pleaded guilty to an assault charge related to a May 28 incident involving a male victim and a misdemeanor vandalism count related to an unspecified July 4 incident.He was facing a hate crime allegation stemming from the Bliss Tea & Treats shooting and other misdemeanor charges of discharging a BB gun in a grossly negligent manner stemming from unspecified incidents occurring in June and July, but those counts were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. 1232
