A New Jersey meat processing company has recalled nearly 43,000 pounds of ground beef, including packages sold at Walmart stores around the country, due to possible E. coli contamination.The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Saturday that Lakeside Refrigerated Services, a Swedesboro, New Jersey company, is recalling ground beef packages that were produced on June 1.The affected products were sold under the Thomas Foods International and Marketside Butcher labels and feature the establishment number EST. 46841.The recall notice said items were shipped to retail locations nationwide. Marketside Butcher products are sold at Walmart, according to package labels of the recalled products.The FSIS categorized the situation as a Class I recall, which it defines as "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."The recall notice said the ground beef could be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, which can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps for 2–8 days, with an average of 3-4 days. A man was accidentally killed by a chainsaw Monday while helping a neighbor cut tree branches during Hurricane Irma cleanup.Authorities say a branch became entangled with the chainsaw. It kicked up and cut Wilfredo Hernandez's throat.Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded and used a harness to lower him from the tree, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.The map below shows where the incident happened. 419

A Texas man is facing riot charges in Minnesota for allegedly firing a semiautomatic rifle into a Minneapolis police building during demonstrations following the death of George Floyd.A criminal complaint alleges Ivan Harrison Hunter, 26, is a member of the Boogaloo Bois, a group that espouses violent anti-government views, and that he drove to Minneapolis at the end of May with the intent of participating in a riot.U.S. Attorney Erica MacDonald announced Hunter faces charges of traveling across state lines to participate in a riot.Floyd, who was Black, died on Memorial Day after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee on his neck for nearly eight minutes. The incident sparked protests against police racism and brutality across the country.Federal investigators have said he fired 13 rounds from a semiautomatic rifle into the Minneapolis Police Department's Third Precinct building while looters were inside. The building later burned. They say they have video of the incident and Hunter was identified from a screen grab of that video.According to the complaint, Hunter made statements on social media describing what he did in Minneapolis.Police in Austin, Texas, stopped a pickup truck on June 3 in which Hunter was a passenger for multiple traffic violations. Hunter had six loaded magazines for a semiautomatic rifle in a tactical vest he was wearing. Officers also found multiple firearms in the truck.Several days after the stop, federal investigators learned of Hunter’s online affiliation with Boogaloo Bois member Steven Carrillo.Federal prosecutors have charged Carrillo in the death of a federal protective officer in Oakland, California, during a protest over Floyd’s death on the same night Hunter allegedly opened fire in Minneapolis.MacDonald said Hunter made his initial court appearance Thursday in San Antonio, Texas. A Nashville doggie day care has filed a lawsuit for million against people who they said have destroyed their reputation. They said online posts in a popular neighborhood Facebook page just weren't true.The Dog Spot in East Nashville filed the lawsuit for libel, fraud and other charges against Jamie Bayer and Bari Rachel Miley Hardin for comments they made on the East Nashville Facebook page starting last month.According to the lawsuit, Bayer posted in part: "...how many dogs have died at The Dog Spot?"  Adding, "I found out two dogs died there. Since then I've heard up to four, and recently even seven."The lawsuit says, among other things, Hardin posted "Lots of dogs have been killed there" and "people can't talk when they've been paid off."The lawsuit from The Dog spot says "These are false statements.""It's not acceptable, its not freedom of speech. you cannot yell fire in a movie theater," said Chad Baker, one of the owners of The Dog Spot. "Just because it's Facebook, doesn't mean you can go on, and say things that are not true, and what's being said about us is not true."There has been at least one dog death at the day care. Rachael Waldrop's Chihuahua "Hall" died after an incident with a larger dog last year. Waldrop sued the daycare last month.Hardin's attorney told Scripps station WTVF in Nashville in a statement, "This lawsuit is just another transparent attempt to silence The Dog Spot's many deeply unhappy customers..." and "The Dog Spot is about to learn a very expensive lesson about free speech, and we look forward to seeing them in court for a short period of time and exposing this ridiculous lawsuit for the sham that it is."This is not the first libel lawsuit The Dog Spot has filed. Last year, they sued after someone posted what they said was a false review on Yelp. 1877

A proposed state fund would pay rent for people on the brink of eviction to help them avoid homelessness.The 0 million fund is a key part of Gov. Gavin Newsom's budget proposal to address the state's homeless crisis. The fund, called the California Access to Housing and Services fund, could also be used to support the creation of more housing units and help stabilize board and care housing facilities. Newsom is proposing a .4 billion plan as part of his annual budget. Of that, 5 million would go to investments in Medi-Cal. The proposal also calls for the state using its own excess land for the site of new shelters. That includes open space near freeways, decommissioned hospitals and fairgrounds. The Del Mar Fairgrounds board has held preliminary discussions adding housing on the property. In San Diego County, excess property locations are also in downtown, El Cajon and Oceanside. An additional location deemed excess has instead been assigned to serve as a shelter for migrants seeking asylum. Jewish Family Service will operate the facility, and has requested the location not be disclosed due to security reasons. The current migrant shelter at the old family courthouse downtown at 6th and Cedar will close Dec. 31 for redevelopment. 1266
