SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More than half of the San Diego-based breweries that participated in a fundraiser to help Camp Fire victims say they've completed their donation on time, according to research by the 10News team.In December, Sierra Nevada brewing asked breweries across the nation to brew "Resilience IPA" as a way to make money for the Butte Strong Fund.Sierra Nevada offered to provide the recipe and work with suppliers to get the ingredients donated. All the local brewers had to do was brew and sell the beer, and donate 100% of the proceeds to the fund.According to Sierra Nevada's Resilience IPA website, more than 1,400 breweries across the country signed up. That includes 43 in San Diego County.Sierra Nevada asked the brewers to finish selling Resilience IPA by April 30 and complete their donation by May 14.In an email sent to brewers on May 21, Sierra Nevada said that nearly half of the breweries still hadn't completed their donation.10News reached out to all 43 breweries in San Diego that took part in the effort to see if they're living up to their end of the fundraiser. We also asked how much money they were able to donate.Of the 43 San Diego breweries we called or emailed, 29 told us they had finished their donation and sent in a check. Those breweries sent more than 7,000 combined. Three breweries told us they haven't been able to finalize their donation. Eleven breweries have yet to respond to our questions.For Societe Brewery CEO Doug Constantiner, helping Camp Fire victims was personal."One of my really good friends lost his house in the fire," Constantiner says. "When we saw the email come through, there was no question about it. We knew we were on board and signed up right away."Societe brewed 20 barrels and raised ,000."I think people really got the message what the Resilience IPA was brewed for and were willing to put their dollars behind it, knowing it was going to a good cause," says Constantiner.San Diego-based AleSmith Brewing made a smaller, two-keg batch, but still raised ,400. "I can honestly never think of another time that another brewery's tap handle was on here at AleSmith," says Quality Supervisor Peter Cronin.He hopes that the breweries that haven't been able to finalize their donation will send the money soon."I'm hoping they didn't just use a big brewery's name, a quality brewery's name to market it a little bit," says Cronin. " And I hope they would donate the money from that beer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Monday afternoon, two brothers were sentenced in connection to the deadly freeway shooting of a Navy sailor who stopped to be a good Samaritan.Edson Acuna and Brandon Acuna learned their sentences following the 2018 shooting death of Navy sailor Curtis Adams. Edson Acuna was given a term of life without the possibility of parole plus 25 years to life plus 27 years and four months. He was ordered to pay ,000 in restitution and pay for associated fines. “He's going to be in prison for the rest of his life until he takes his last breath and I think that will give him time to pay these from prison wages,” the judge told the courtroom.Edson Acuna was convicted by jury of first degree murder while Brandon Acuna pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. On Monday, Brandon Acuna was sentenced to 13 years in prison.Prosecutors argued that they burglarized a car outside of a Mount Hope home which led to a shootout with the homeowner. They tried to get away but a blown-out tire caused them to stall on the freeway. Adams stopped to help but Edson Acuna shot him after thinking that he was the homeowner from the shootout earlier in the night.Harvey Liberato and Susana Galvan were also in the brothers’ car and have entered plea agreements.The judge concluded the hearing by telling the courtroom that he hopes both men reflect in the years to come on the magnitude of the loss that their actions caused. 1441

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Naval Base Point Loma was locked down Thursday over reports of a suspicious person.In a Facebook post, the base said "all personnel onboard the installation are directed to seek shelter in the nearest building and activate lock down procedure" and remain inside until told otherwise. The lockdown was lifted just before 2 p.m. and Harbor Drive was reopened to traffic. The base told 10News that it appeared the caller believed to have seen a suspicious person, but the person in question was not believed to be a threat.The base added the Gateway Youth Center and Patrick Wade CDC had been taken off lockdown and parents allowed to pick up their children.10News is monitoring this breaking news. 722

Opponents have contributed million.As written on the ballot, Proposition 15 will "increase funding sources for public schools, community colleges, and local government services by changing tax assessment of commercial and industrial property."The Proposition will raise commercial and industrial property taxes by reassessing property based on current values. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One young man was named the newest recruit of the San Diego Police Department Wednesday.SDPD's newest officer, five-year-old Liam, was sworn in by Chief David Nisleit as part of a ceremony hosted by the department and Make-A-Wish San Diego.Liam, who was born with a congenital heart defect, began his first day on the beat soon after his ceremony. He and his partner received a call to help capture a bank robber. Bank of America also partnered with Make-A-Wish to offer up a location for a bank robbery and arrest scene, where the two cops took in the suspect.Liam and his partner then returned to police headquarters to interview the suspect.The Make-A-Wish event was held just one day before the department celebrates its 130th anniversary. 770
