It was gut-wrenching," said Erik Weichelt, President of the Fletcher Hills Little League."Just devastating for the league," said Weichelt's son Gage, 12, who plays in the league.Discovered on Saturday: a damaged fence, gate shoved open, and a locked batting cage that was broken into. A bevy of equipment was stolen, including a riding mower, a pitching machine, two custom hitting mats, two sets of catcher's gear, three catcher's mitts and hundreds of baseballs."To steal from the kids just doesn't make sense," said Weichelt.The total loss was about ,000."What a troubling year for this to happen," said Weichelt.So far this year, COVID-19 health orders have canceled the team's main fundraiser, along with limiting all activities to practices and no games. In the concession area, there is ,500 worth of food which will likely go unsold."No revenue has come in. We're losing money because fees are still there. The cost of lights and maintenance isn't going away," said Weichelt.Their financial dilemma is now a bigger issue because of the theft. During Frontier flight 1397 from Cleveland to Tampa this afternoon, six passengers became ill. The aircraft was met by local emergency medical services upon arrival in Tampa. Those passengers displaying symptoms were evaluated by medical staff before being released. All other passengers were released after a brief holding period. (KGTV) -- An elderly man was struck by a car and killed as he crossed an El Cajon street Wednesday night.At around 11:30 p.m., El Cajon police and paramedics were called to the intersection of Jamacha and Main Street in response to a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.Police said a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Jamacha when it hit the 80 year-old-man. Officers say the victim's leg was amputated, and he was not breathing when they arrived at the scene.The victim, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.According to police, the driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the incident, police said. 746

Would you go as often if you heard about collisions and damage happening inside?Mark Crotty of Arizona took his new car through a Super Star Car Wash. He says while in the wash, a car two cars ahead somehow came off the rollers. Crotty said the truck in front of him stopped, which caused his car to be sandwiched with the truck and a big SUV from behind. He said that SUV pushed him about 15 feet through the rest of the wash. Crotty says Super Star Car Wash took no responsibility for the damage caused. He ended up paying hundreds to repair damage to his bumpers.Jennifer Chahoud also had damage to her new car. She also said it happened inside a Super Star Car Wash.Chahoud says cars suddenly stopped in front of her and her car was hit. She said for weeks, Super Star claimed they were not responsible.Chahoud said only after complaining to the Better Business Bureau that they paid for repairs to her car.Jake Morrissey says it happened to him too.He said his car was in neutral and his hands were off the steering wheel as all drivers are asked to do. Then his car collided with a car in front and back of him.He said Super Star claimed no responsibility and said it was not their equipment. Instead, he says the car wash blamed another driver.Morrissey said Super Star gave him the driver's name and location and told him to take it up with her. He approached her, but said she denied knowing anything about it and threatened to call the police. He sued, and Super Star blamed this other driver.Morrissey lost and still hasn't had his damage repaired, and he now questions why cars are put on the conveyor belt so closely.Morrissey added he wonders why there aren't sensors that immediately stop the line when there's an issue.JR Ruelas of Super Star Car Wash said these collisions are very rare. He said when they happen, they are usually the fault of the driver.Ruelas said drivers put on their brakes or move the steering wheel taking them off the track.He says in the above cases, the car wash equipment was not the problem.He defended the practice of giving drivers information of other drivers to seek reimbursement.He said Super Star does take responsibility when they are at fault, but couldn't give exact numbers.Ruelas said there are sensors on the conveyor line, but they are not in the middle, where many of these collisions happen.Crotty, Chahoud and Morrissey all said their damage was not their fault, and ask how could it be when they have no control over their car's movement? EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A man fatally stabbed inside an East County condominium has been identified as an active-duty service member.Anderson Lopes, 24, was found unresponsive at his El Cajon condo just after 10:30 p.m. on March 6, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department. Lopes's wife said her husband was injured in an assault inside the home in the 13000 block of Pinkard Way.Lopes was treated at the scene and brought to a nearby hospital, but died from his injuries. His wife, who said she was trying to break up the fight, was stabbed in the thigh and underwent surgery.RELATED: Suspect arrested in El Cajon stabbing deathSDSO said Lopes was an active-duty service member in the U.S. Navy.Deputies detained Dylan Poston, 26, at the scene. Poston has been charged with one count of murder and is being held without bail at San Diego County Jail.It's not clear what led to the reported altercation.The murder is still under investigation.
