However, they do question if their tax dollars could've been better spent.“I wasn't aware of the amount of money that went into it, Reynolds says."There's so much other things your money could go towards, like education."While this may seem like a game with public funds, Schiller says the long-term goal is to make it a home run for all, saying the stadium provides “great economic vitality” to the community."And within a few short years, the taxpayer will actually make money off of this entire arrangement,” Schiller says.He says the future revenue will eventually be funneled back into local needs, like education.“ million of that goes to the Cobb County school system,” Schiller says.Whether you think this is a win or loss for taxpayers, both sides agree on one thing."I think it’s an eyeopener for folks to make sure they're being politically savvy,” Sierra says.In order to have a say on this stadium or any other, it's all about stepping up to the plate to vote.“I really do think it's important for fans and constituents to know what we are doing with their funds and how their dollars are put to use,” Schiller says. 2171

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — More changes could be coming to the "free drink" system in Las Vegas casinos.There is special technology on table-top machines, such as video poker, that monitors when you earn a comped drink. Now, gamblers may see it on slot machines, too.Ardent Progressive Systems and Games has already installed its technology on about 90 slot machines at The Riverside Resort in Laughlin.It's considered a trial run for a couple months to see how it goes."The hope now is, the trial down in Laughlin will be successful and then we've got several properties that are waiting to see the results of that and possibly implementing it in the near future up here in Las Vegas," said Albert Tabola with Ardent Progressive Systems and Games.The technology is a strip of LED lights that faces you while you play. Red means you're not ready for a drink. Green means you are ready for a drink. Yellow means you're getting close to qualifying for a drink. Orange means you're playing too slowly and falling off track."You will know as you play whether you qualify for a complimentary drink or not, as will the cocktail waitress," Tabola said.Players do not have to play max bet to qualify for a drink. They ust need to consistently play."The qualification levels on there are very, very low so this should not affect anybody that plays for the most part, at all," he said. (KGTV) — La Mesa city officials have launched an investigation after video surfaced of an incident at a local trolley station on Wednesday.The incident occurred at the Grossmont Trolley Station on Fletcher Parkway, according to the city and the video online. The video appears to "indicate that a LMPD officer detained an African American male, and in the process, the LMPD officer administered physical contact," the city wrote in a press release.The video shows an altercation between a man and an officer escalate at the trolley station. Eventually, the man is handcuffed by officers and told he is being charged with assaulting an officer.The city says it has started a special investigation into the incident and that the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation."The Special Investigator has already been selected, and his appointment is pending the execution of a special services agreement which will be released for public review when available," the city says.A statement from La Mesa Mayor Mark Arapostathis added, "The City takes these matters very seriously, and consequently, in conjunction with the City Manager’s and City Attorney’s offices, has already begun the appropriate steps forward to investigate this matter thoroughly and take all necessary actions."LMPD issued a statement, saying they are "aware of a video circulating on social media depicting an interaction between a police officer and a citizen at the Grossmont Trolley Station yesterday. LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) - Three baby sea lions stranded in a small cave in La Jolla were rescued Friday by SeaWorld experts.The sea lions became trapped for an unknown reason and did not appear to be able to swim to safety. The animals' mother cried out in distress as onlookers watched from above. One sealion was lodged between two rocks, while two others were inside on the floor and unable to find their way out. A SeaWorld team reached the scene about 11:30 a.m. to save the sea lions. Mark Bressler, a SeaWorld rescuer, said the mothers and babies can get separated when humans get too close to the sea lions. The crowd cheered as the animals were reunited with their mom. 687
